I would like to be Mefarsem the Nes that HKB"H did for me two years ago on this day,
I was up in the cottage country in Canada on a jetski with another person and we took a bad turn and fell off the jetski in the middle of the lake, B"H we were both wearing lifejackets- we got separated from each other and from the jetski immediately, the water was freezing cold as it was only the beginning of June.
After 20-25 minutes in the water I began to get very cold and very tired, I was barely able to move my legs from the cold and I was starting to give in - I had already said Kries Shema and was repeating any Kapitlach that I knew I could hardly see the other person and I was sure this was the end.
Bechasdi Hashem a boat finally spotted us and picked the other person up and came to get me and brought us back to shore as soon as he saw we were okay he was gone (I never go to properly thank him), the paramedics came and told us that we both had hypothermia, his bad enough that he needed to get IV and go to the hospital but by the time we got there his body had gone back up 4-5 degrees which is apparently unheard of, we spent around an hour in the hospital before leaving to make it back to Toronto in time for Shabbos.
Thank you Hashem, Boruch Shechayni Vekiyemani Lazman Hazeh.
I would like to take this opportunity to beg you all , as we get to the summer time don't forget! The water is a dangerous place - PLEASE ensure that everyone who goes onto the water has life jackets, make sure you have some way to contact them, be very aware of when the last time you heard from them was (my friends were already out looking for me because they knew I was supposed to be back) please please please take my warning, be safe!
