LMS - Last Man Standing.. Not FMS (First Man Standing) - This game is for night time only, not morning, afternoon, or evening.. NIGHT TIME ONLY!!

At night while most of the world is sleeping there are some members which are looking to socialize since they have no one else to speak to; they play a really exciting and fun game which basically every couple minutes you write a comment, the comments range from standing to sleeping, from young grasshoppers to old grasshoppers. it usually begins around 1:00 am EDT

RULES OF THE GAME:

1) Game starts at 1am Eastern, 12am Central, 11pm mountain, 10pm pacific... You get the point.
2) Anyone can call a roll call, just make a reply with "Roll Call". The roll call must be readable to the naked eye.
3) No more than one roll call every thirty minutes.
4) You have 30 minutes to respond to the roll call to stay active.
5) To respond to a roll call just post a reply with "Here" or "y y y"
6) If after one hour there are no more "Roll Calls" or "Heres", then the last person to post correctly either by calling a roll call or with a reply of "here" is declared winner of LMS.
7)You must have been awake for at least 12 hours before making or answering a RC.

OR IN SHORT:

When someone calls for a roll call. No more than one every 30 minutes and you have 30 minutes to respond "Here".

I’m confused @Traveler718
They probably just share one DDF account, it depends who's posting.
Small people talk about other people.
Average people talk about things
BIG PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IDEAS.

Sorry for the confusion. I'm definitely male and also the only one who posts from this account. I accidentally wrote DH instead of DW. My wife has been to 50 states (and 7 continents), I've only been to 49 (missing Hawaii).

i just found a fascinating archive.

Reb Eliyahu Beane z"l was a Ben Torah and a computer scientist for the US army who lived in Lakewood. He interviewed 160 talmidim of Rav Ahron Koter zt"l, and the audio of the interviews are all available online.

The interviewees include Rav Shlomo Miller, Rav Shmuel Miller, Rav Yehuda Jacobs, Rav Moshe Heinemann, Rav Shmuel Blech, Rav Meir Hershkowitz,  Rav Levi Dicker, and so many other prominent names.

Do you want to play a board game, digitally or in Lakewood NJ? PM me. (Can be asynchronous, i.e. take turns whenever)

I was searching for a tutorial on using hand signs for טעמי המקרא and came across the following page. Quite an unexpected website to find this:

I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I had a temani friend in yeshiva in EY. One time he took me to a relative in yerushalayim for seudas shabbos, which meant davening with his cousins in a temani shul. Everyone leins their own aliyah, but the 'baal kriah' stands there next to the oleh and makes hand signals for the trop with a yad. My friend complained to me afterward that every mistake he made was really the guy giving him the wrong signal ;D (or so he claimed). That, and the fact that someone at the bimah reads the targum aloud after each pasuk made for a very interesting leining.

I think everyone should at least once daven in a Temani minyan and same for a sefardi minyan (some are better than others, but it is always a good experience).

In Lakewood, it's common for a Sefardi to daven in an Ashkenazi minyan; but an Ashkenazi would never be caught dead in a Sefardi shul. (This has more to do with logistics than anything else, but still a funny observation.)

I don't think this is only in Lakewood.

In EY I found it more common to find myself in a sefardi (weekday mincha or maariv) minyan (either in a place where anyone can go to the omud and daven their own nusach, or where it was most convenient.

At a time when I had a pinched sciatica nerve, there was a sefardi minyan accross the street from me, so I davened there. I also took my son to daven there a couple of times Friday night for the experience.
