Relay Rides - Better than Zipcar?
« on: August 02, 2012, 02:43:28 PM »
Just saw an interesting site https://relayrides.com

Basically, if your car is sitting unused most of the time, you can post it online for 'rent' hourly or weekly. Relay Rides provides $1 Million dollars of insurance coverage.
Or, if you need a car for just a few hours a week, there may be someone down the block from you looking to rent their car to you at either hourly or daily rates.

Seems pretty cool no?

Not always going to beat rental car rates, but as a possible alternative to buying a 2nd car - and it can definitely be more convenient than renting if there's someone in your neighborhood with a car that you like!

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Basically, if someone has a GM car with Onstar, the renter can unlock the door with a cell phone app, take the keys from the glove compartment and return it all without even meeting the owner!

The owner can rack his car while it's out, and shut it down if he suspects abuse.
