macbook deals
« on: August 02, 2012, 10:13:42 PM »
After serving me faithfully and always being there for me  for 5 years (120 mac years), it is finally time to lay it to rest. Now I need to get a new one.
ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET A GOOD DEAL ON A MACBOOK AIR 13 INCH?

You're looking for a new one, right? I don't think they discount 'em much. Your best bet would be to try to find Apple GCs @ 10-20% off or a no-sales-tax seller (ebay?) selling at a decent price.

I believe they're on sale now in best buy. Another option, if you don't mind the previous gen, is macmall.com

The student discount is probably your best route.  That way you can stay in the Apple ecosystem.  It might be possible to combine this with ebates or a credit card shopping program, for a bigger discount.

care to elaborate?
Np. I have the pro and unless your using it for video editing and the likes it's a lot of extra weight to carry around for no good reason. The air is cheaper weighs less and makes more sense for your average joe. Don't get me wrong. In terms of computer value you definitely get more for your money for a pro. But again, for your average user, it's pointless. Also, i can't remember the last time I put in a cd/DVD into my disk drive.

I have the pro. I use it for college and video editing as a hobby. It was the right choice for me since I use it for editing but the weight is def something I would consider more carefully when I purchase my next one. The pro is not the best choice for a lightweight, portable laptop...
When I bought my macbook I got a student deal through apple for a free printer and ipod touch, but dont think they are offering anything like this anymore.
