You'll lose on warranty, but you can often get AppleCare at discounted prices as well, if you think it's comparable.

By GCs I mean sellers like this (imagine he has 20 of them, not saying he does), I used to see 'em on CL all the time. Or maybe this guy (or this guy) is neg. etc.

just buy directly on apple and use their apple education store and you'll get $100 off your mac + a $100 itunes gift card that u can sell for about $85 on ebay

but amazons price for macbook air is less than apple even with the measly student discount. the app store gc is prob worth maybe $80 bux. tax from apple will be more than $80...  so still going to be cheaper to buy from amazon?
