Use basic protection, that doesn't enable all the extras, that's what I use for most home clients

Well lets start from the begining, whats the speed of your computer right now? what processor, ram etc
Its an Acer aspire
2.4GHz Intel Core i5-2430M Dual-Core
4GB of DDR3 RAM
640GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
AMD Radeon 6850M 1GB Graphics
17.3" CineCrystal LED-Backlit Display
1600 x 900 Native Resolution
SuperMulti DVD Burner
802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
Integrated Webcam, Microphone & Speakers
Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

Now, how do I test the current speed?

xyz has a virus and being deleted
« Reply #151 on: June 06, 2013, 11:17:35 AM »
Figured I'd take a stab at the community out there and see if I get lucky with a solution. One of our workstations, when trying to download, says it has a virus and is being deleted. All the time. I googled it and tried many of the solutions, like Rkill, MAB, combofix, etc. AVG boot disk, etc. Nothing is helping. If any one knows of a solution that can actually work, other than dynamite, please let me know.

Any program. For example "avg.... has a virus. It's being deleted" Something like that - I'm not in the office right now. Thanks

I tried 10 different things and it's possible I just resolved the issue, though I can't say which thing actually resolved it! Thanks for all the help.
By the way I downloaded the application that shows you all the startup files, but it's hard to know what to keep and what to toss.
