i saw some error message pop up and go away no clue what it was-

Added a pause at the end of them, you can then copy the results.
You can also run the batch with >> log.txt but try this first.

Try removing the file with this:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/fileassassin/

After that, try this:

Download http://download.windowsupdate.com/WindowsUpdate/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe and put that file in C:\  (root of the drive). 


Then go to Start - Run, and type C:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce, and then click OK.


Install it.

when trying to assisinate the windowsupdate log file it says no errors found
when trying to delete the file see attached (cannot delete)
i posted the webpage that comes up when i choose windows update (from i.e.#8)

i tried to re install essentials and got cannot complete error code 0x80070643

Be CAREFUL with scannow. I used it yesterday and it did a number of things on one of my computers at work, one of which was to not get me to the login prompt anymore. It went into starting windows, then another screen, then back to starting windows, etc. It took me a bit to get out of it (had to restore). Anyway, I'm not saying it's not for you, but be careful. For example, make sure taking restore points is set. Hatzlacha!
