Why does the Gemara call them נירון קיסר, אספסיינוס קיסר when in reality they were just generals? The gemara says שדר עלוייהו so obviously they were not in charge. אספסיינוס did end up becoming the קיסר as the Gemara relates on 56b, but not נירון. When Titus is mentioned it does not call him קיסר.
AFAIK, נירון = Nero
They eventually wound up being קיסר, so why should they not be called that?

I'll start
Gittin 56A
-ענוותנותו של רבי זכריה בן אבקולס what does it have to do with Anava (Rashi explains סבלנותו but the gemara does not say that)

when they were deciding what to do he spoke out first and because of his greatness no one wished to argue. Had he spoken last like the most chashuv are supposed there would have been different results

There is much debate about that, the gemara says that he went and became Jewish so it does not sound like it.

Good point.
Found this in a הגהה in ספר יוחסין, but it seems like he had a slightly different גירסא than us:

Edit: Artscroll also goes into this issue, notes 14, 15, 21, 22. Either way, they accept that נירון קיסר refers to Nero, but they just present differing opinions whether Nero is the actual commander who fought against the Jews (and ultimately converted), or whether Nero is the one who sent out an unnamed commander who fought against the Jews (and ultimately converted).

-Why did they want to kill bar Kamtza? Why did Rav Zecharya only have a problem with what people would say, and not the fact that he would be killed?

Indeed, I saw a pshat I think it was from the  מהרץ  חיות who says that he deserved death as he was a rodef. He also answers the other question of anava. He says that due to his anava he did not want to pasken. He should have paskend that its muttar to kill him or to bring the korban.

אמר ליה מחייבת תרי קטלא
How could it be both, if he was a king the he can't be guilty of calling him king. And if he was not a king then he cannot be guilty for the delay?

+1, I don't understand elikay's question.

Also regarding the other question, Rashi is explaining that the Middah of Savlanus is an offshoot of the middah of Anavah. The Gemara's point is (I think) that it was misplaced Anavah/Savlanus, the situation called for no Anavah/Savlanus.

How was he a rodef at that moment?
They knew his intention by bringing an animal that he blemished from the Emperor, was to go back to the Emperor and snitch.
He was both a Moser and a Rodef.

Intending to be a rodef is not a rodef.

This was the last possible moment they could have done anything to stop him.

+100. And it's irrelevant, because he was already a moser.

I know this is an old thread but I thought it belongs here...
Im looking for suggestions. As of now I learn the Daf in the morning, but im looking for some type of chazara later in the day. Preferably shouldn’t take more than 15-20 min. Either a podcast or a daily email with a quick summary.
All ideas welcome, i prefer ideas that you personally have tried and not just read about or saw an ad.
Tia

Does anyone know of a good daily email with Divrei Torah on the Daf that I can subscribe to?
Specifically looking for Halacha and lomdus and not just simple pshat.
