NEW kind of hoax, BEWARE

They hack peoples email account, and send out with matching name etc a request to help them out as they are stuck abroad (the name plus email are correct).

Unless I knew that this person happens to be in a different country + sent an email to say that he didnt send it, It looks pretty real...

Here below an email;  I fixed the names so that its clear what it looks like, yet not revealing the victims info:

Hope you get this email on time,Am sorry for writing to you at this manner but i just have to because of my situation at this very moment. I am in London at the moment for an  urgent business trip , unfortunately for me I was robbed overnight on my way back to the hotel where i lodge, my mobile phone and all the cash i had on me was stolen,luckily for me i still have my passport with me which i left in my hotel room before the incident.

I have been to the Embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues and i have to fly back home.
 
At the moment i am stranded, i can't pay my hotels bills,Could you please loan me £1,650 British Pounds to enable me pay my bills and fly back home. As soon as I get back I would refund it immediately back to you. Please all I need you to do is to go to any Western Union Outlet or Money Gram which i am inform is the fastest way to receive money and send me the money before the bank here closes. Below are my details for the western union transfer or Money Gram Transfer.

not if you get this from people you know, and all info makes perfect sense, + the guy is traveling. I had to remove the identifiable info, but they did make some homework before shooting this out.

1) did u see that he cc many people? If all he needed was from one person $ then why the need to cc?

2) are u his brother, parent? I would deff go to family first.

3) If he is an american, why would he be requesting money in GBP, he know we are not proficent in the conversion rate. It wud make more sense to request $2000.

the guy is in england, and sending money over will always end up in GBP, and you are notified of this at the time of asking a transfer.

Its a very old scam, I got these emails too once, I think its been mentioned on DDF sometime ago too.

I left out some details that showed that those guys must have been sifting through emails before setting this up, or at least before customizing.

it started happening 2-3 years ago on facebook where the message was actually posted to close friends when the account owner was on vacation! It spreaded so much they even created that page
