IME, newspapers usually get info wrong, sometimes they edit stuff for literary license, just change around the facts because they can even if there is no difference.

Seriously, we were all hocking about how much El Al is actually "losing "and what they gained by offering this $150 "upgrade", etc. I assume they have to pay AA for these miles that they give so that itself is another consideration. Perhaps some of the original tickets were full mileage and now by "upgrading" us, El Al saves some more money by only giving us half the miles.

im on the fone now with a lady and she was able to get me the flights i wanted (pesach time) and she said its 45% bonus FF miles cus its a made up class. either way im switching now cus this way less work will be missed. awesome!

Any thoughts of them willing to change to either shorten or extend my layover in London without going to a non-stop as it would be very expensive given the size of my family (K"H)

My thoughts are that you should stop thinking about it as it ain't gonna happen. They would rather you cancel then fly through LHR, so they won't accommodate you there.

I hear your thoughts. It still may be possible that they can help them. The CSR can not force you to go non-stop and will surely appreciate your perspective. If it does not cost them anything (Dan?) to help you in London, why would they not be nice and help? Ok, I could think of some reasons but why not try?

I don't know but they are being very magnanimous about this mistake when it is clear it is better for them if you cancel. Why would they go above and beyond to help you keep this ticket. That wouldn't even be allowed on a regular ticket. They have nothing to gain by giving that to you
