hi need to cancel my cheap el-al tickets for the end of month. whats the best way?

Update and FYI - Cancelling the tickets with El Al is not immediate.

Essentially, my parents were forced to cancel their (cheap) flight because of Superstorm Sandy two weeks ago. They cancelled their ticket the day after their initial flight was cancelled because of the storm and the refund has yet to be seen on the credit card. Not sure if this is normal...two weeks for a credit card refund from an airline.

I just got off with el-al they canceled with no problem. will take 6 to 8 weeks for refund to show

Just wanted to say thank you again to the OP, my parents will be leaving to the airport in a couple of hours for their flight. They haven't visited Israel in 35 years!

My credit took over two weeks too. it eventually came though so don't worry

6-8 weeks is a bit of an unacceptable practice IMO. I know other companies have this policy as well, but quite frankly, if a company can charge a CC immediately to take money they should be able to refund it just as quick. Why does it take any longer than it would making a purchase and then return in a store, where the respective transactions take place immediately?

Not worried. Thankfully El Al is not an airline that questionable financially. I would be more worried if it were a newer airline with financial difficulties. I have seen a lot of horror stories with people being stranded because of airlines going bankrupt overnight.

Just not sure why a refund to a CC is not as immediate as a purchase.

Probably every refund has to go through a specific department at ElAl and they have to approve it. You might be in a rush but they are Israeli so be happy they even have such a thing available
