Jerusalem hotel deals?
« on: August 07, 2012, 12:15:03 AM »
Now that we're all booked for Israel (thanks Dan!!), does anyone know of any good deals for hotels in Jerusalem? Are there any hotel options left in Jerusalem that could be booked with hotel (or airline) points?

thanks

Same here.
Starwood would be awesome.
Need 9/24 - 10/10 for yom tov, need a place with yom tov meals.
Preferably walking distance to kosel.
we have an 8 yo, 5yo, & 12 month old. (2 rooms or 1 laarge room)
Thanks!

Unfortunately there are no longer any Starwood options in Jerusalem, so that's not going to happen...
As far as I know, the only chain hotels left in Jerusalem are Ramada/Wyndham and Crowne Plaza/Holiday Inn.
Does anyone know of any others?

Are there any creative ways to get a good deal on Ramada or Crowne Plaza (without having a lot of their points)?

I dont see an israel hotel master thread...
but those rates (leonardo) certainly arent for sukkos. ramada sounds right. I am quoted 300 for 2 rooms.

Ramada is usually $150 a night, except high season.

Here is the breakdown of my research for pricing of 3 popular (mehadrin) hotels. I have not booked yet.
The below rates were for a stay of 9/24 to 10/10 and includes the pricing of hotel + yom tov meals (10 meals for keeping 2 days YT and does not include shabbos chol hamoed meals).
All pricing is for 2 adults/2 children (baby is free). 2 rooms.
I am sharing for 2 purposes.
1) If someone else is in my situation looking for details on mehadrin hotels for Sukkos.
2) If someone out there knows of a better option or price.

Optimally, it would be great to stay walking distance to the kotel, but not for thousands more...

see my attached image with the rates.
thanks

I really didn't look into hotels before i booked the plane tickets. this was a silly decision. i didnt think it would be as expensive... I am still price shopping and a family member in the business is supposed to get back to me with some prices next week so if there is a deal i can share, i definately will... in the meantime, if anyone has prices that can beat the rates shown in the prior post, please share!

You might be able to rent an apartment for cheaper depending on when you're going and how long you are staying for.

it would definitely save money. but i would also have to start worrying about a place with a balcony/sukkah.
and i would have to stock the apartment with food, have the wife cook all the yom tov meals. (yeah, if it was up to me I would go this route ;)
but if we are going on "vacation", then she's "not gonna be cooking".  (I don't blame her though, she does make pesach and every other yom tov/shabbos every other year, so its time for a break).

I remember though several years ago the whole extended family went to israel and stayed at the citadel (i didnt even bother looking this time since my wallet cant afford that) but people were saying that some restaurants have yom tov pre-paid dine in meals, so maybe thats an option.

Look into getting an apartment with a sukka, order catered food for the whole YT, have much money leftover! Use that for babysitting, massage etc.

EZDoesIt - home caterer with Hechsher - 718-407-4085 Israel time, tell them you saw it on DD (if they know what that is). There are other options for food too, take out etc.

Anyone here know rates for apt offhand?

Ramada Wyndham, I noticed, has a credit card with which you can get 30,000 points with first purchase. There is a $69 annual fee, though.

That is enough for one night +change. (25,000 points per night in Yerushalayim)

Any thoughts?

Open a card that costs $69 for one night in a mediocre hotel in a bad location?
I think not.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Yes, a bunch of times. They make awesome food!  8) :) Tasty, classic, creative, top quality. From the rolls to deserts.

I can also give you info for other caterers, like wedding caterers, where you can probably order food for the whole YT. EZDI does food that Americans are used to, presentation, looks appetizing etc. Very Kosher!  ;D
