Kids going to Israel - help with luggage

I have two children going IY"H to Israel for a year.  I bought tickets on United (from CLE).  Luggage allowance is one bag 50 lbs.  Second bag is $100.  They are flying on separate itineraries on separate days.

Any and all ideas regarding advice on how to get more luggage for less money would be greatly appreciated.

Open the united PP club card and add them as additional cardholders.

I have looked into the Presidential Plus Card - but it seems as though it would only help if I traveled with them. 

Again any advice and guidance to reduce baggage fees is greatly appreciated.

doing what ? the only way to reduce baggage fees on LY is by checking-in online. $70 a luggage instead of $100 [not sure on after the second luggage]

not exactly. $55 instead of $70. They give a one time $15 discount if checking in on line. So no matter how many cases, and second one is three times the amount.

its all on their website. Over 50 Lbs is over weights. 3-4 over you should be fine.
