details please

Located in Mea Shearim. Tour is in Hebrew or Jiddisch. You see the Tefillin in its raw form being pressed. Interesting is also the place where it's being done. Tour is only for one person at a time.

Any recommended group tours? I know Hoffman but from what I recall, they weren't all that great and aren't all that cheap anymore either.

Yehoshua Yankelowitz does group tours of the old city on fridays (mostly aimed at bachurim - quick paced, and gets in to the hlachos)

I went on one of his tours probably close to 15 years ago, was amazing! He takes you right after vasikin at the kosel and goes through the Arab quarter before it gets too busy, saves the Jewish quarter for the end. I don't remember all the details but overall was really amazing!

Fwiw: I priced a few frum guides for tours of the old city. All were taking $400. During the winter, these same tours were 250-300... They know that tourists are coming!

Not sure about your insurance but you can purchase insurance for really cheap.
A lot of people use Egert-Cohen in Israel: https://egertcohen.co.il
Or you can purchase from  a place like IMG: https://www.imglobal.com/travel-insurance?gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwnrmlBhDHARIsADJ5b_nJBI3XPBiZSFG3NQnRpvKvMw5mefrLvRnxe2f1R0BP3jrP4KASn9YaAkkkEALw_wcB
Also ExGingi is very helpful.
