Anyone know how much it will cost to take out cash in Israel with either a Chase or BoA debit card, and is it worth it? I am too late to set up any other bank at this point.
If you can get the chase account to be CPC then no fee

if you are Chase Private client it doesn’t cost (even when it says there is a charge)

Try asking someone to Zelle for cash. There are many people who use American cc and need $ to pay their bills. Pm open if you need help.

To answer your question, I think it's a 3% fee for Chase.

You just go there, and they have tours (at least when I went two weeks ago). Though I couldn't really justify the extra fee, so I just piggybacked on someone else's tour :)

TR: Park Yarmut
« Reply #12132 on: August 14, 2023, 12:59:39 PM »
My brother invited me to visit him today in Park Yarmut. We had a great time so here's how it went.

The park is located along a large valley that divides RBS Aleph and RBS Gimmel-2. The 619 from Y-m drops you off down the block. When you walk ahead on the right, after the next street, there are both stairs and ramps walking down. The entire place is accessible for strollers and other wheel type objects.
We took scooters and similar for all the kids as well as a stroller, leaving on the 12:05PM bus. The bus was nearly empty and the driver was pleasant (none of my kids were nauseous for once). Once on the bus, the ride was about 45 minutes - very good.
The kids enjoyed the many paved paths - there are both pedestrian and bike paths that crisscross the whole park. We spotted many people on electric bikes. Periodically along the green, there are places with partially covered awnings and slides, but there were times when none of the many benches were in the shade. We saw other people but there was so much space and so many parks that it never felt at all crowded. (Last week they had rides and moonwalks all week, so maybe the neighborhood folks were parked out.) There were also a few basketball courts (which were being used for soccer, naturally).
Above one section of the park, there is a large supermarket (Zol uVGadol), as well as a Rubin high-class bakery, a Rubin pizza store, a Machpud burger place, and a CSS-PT ice cream parlor. We had lunch at the pizza store, known as "Pizza Kimat Chinam." I spent 200 or so shekel getting three medium-sized pies, their largest fries, onion rings, creamed potatoes and water. The pizza was decent - lots of cheese but very thin crust - and a hit with everyone. The onion rings looked homemade and were the best I ever tasted in my life (not that I get around). It was enough food for four adults and seven kids under nine.
Given enough water (and sunscreen!), I get the feeling that the kids would have been happy for at least two hours more than the three and a half hours we spent there. We used up our portable water supply and got more at the supermarket without paying a premium. (They also have Tenuva's new cold coffee and Powerade/Gatorade.) You can probably put together a cold-cuts lunch out of the store, too.
The park had a generously sized bathroom which was surprisingly clean but had no tissues (though we always carry tissues  8)).
So far as the way back, I get the feeling that drivers are surprised to see someone waiting at the bus stop. Even though we flagged the 619 down, he almost didn't see us and stopped further down the block. He then actually backed up for us (!). My wife says it was the same driver who took us to Bet Shemesh.

Pros:
Large and clean
Stores and food
bathrooms
many huge recreation areas
paved paths that loop for long distances

Cons:
Not the greatest shade, especially if you want to sit
A lot of walking if one has trouble with that, especially if you travel with mass transportation

What’s the price range for a driver for a 1 day trip up North (from Yerushalyim) for Tezfas, Meron, Teveria etc. ? Regular car for 2 passengers
And any recommendations?

To answer my own question, I’ve found the range to be approx 150 NIS an hour with a 10 hour minimum. If you find for less then that you’re getting a good deal and expect to pay more for a nicer/larger car.
