The other way being just walking in on a random afternoon?!
You need to pay-if you go to learn, not tour during the afternoon you can go in through the back- but there is no entrance for woman.

slightly- but not dangerous- its basicly in the jewish quarter. go out the same way as going to the kotel hakatan - but the second you go through security- make the immediate right and then an immediate left up the stairs.

I don't think it's for the tourist effect, I think it's to ease traffic. IF it does that- then great

Anything the city has done to ease traffic so far, has only made the traffic situation 3x worse IME.

Here is my mini restaurant report from my trip this past week;

Burger Bar in the old city (across Holy Bagel) - Great food. I had the house burger and fries which was great. We had a chicken finger platter with some dips that was also very good. Other had Chicken wraps which I was told was good as well.

Rimon Cafe in Mamilla- I had the Israeli Breakfast special which I recommend. Service was pretty good.

Papagaio- Of course we all did the "Brazilian Table" (currently 190/pp) - the place was swamped with Frum BP crowd that were intent on making sure they lose money on the "all you can eat"  ;)
We were served 9 different meats and chickens plus a bunch of side dishes (Fries were great). It was great getting to taste so many different types of foods instead of being stuck with a big portion of one type of meat. Overall most dishes were pretty good but I dont think the quality of the meats were close to NY steakhouse at all. That being said it was still a great experience. p.s. I thought the liver was VERY good, it had an interesting sweet flavor to it.

Breakfast a couple times in Holy Bagel- Pretty decent basic breakfast place conveniently located right near the kosel where we davened every morning. Bagels were pretty good, So were the omelletes.

Friday Afternnon "Toamehu" at Heimishe Essen was pretty good- its possible that it was just because we didnt eat all day and were starving.

Pizza Yerushalayim (top of geulah) was really bad. Big apple pizza (Ben Yehuda) was pretty good.

Cherry's in Tiberias- I am not sure if it was just us but the service was horrendous. We ordered the Israeli Breakfast and after a long wait our waitress brought out just the eggs and salads, after waiting 10 min and unable to get her attention I got up and asked at the fron for our breads and butter/jams to be sent over (its listed ass part of the breakfast) Took a while for the bread to come out on its own. Another few requests were made for the butters/jams, waitress went in and out of our area a few times in between and still they didnt come. I had to get up again and ask at the front and finally we had or complete breakfast which was basically ruined at that point.

We went looking for Cafe C but it wasnt where I remembered it from last time so I dont know if they closed or not.

i havent been yet been to the new location, but at least at the old location, they NEVER got the temperature right on any of the steaks i ordered in the 10+ times i was there.

also, do they still think a slider is taking a reg size burger and cutting it 4 ways?
