If it cannot handle 220 then you need a proper transformer, there was a deal on DDF a little while back I think but any one from a reputable company on amazon should work
PSA- shavers and especially peanuts are notorious for blowing in Israel.
For smaller appliances (phones, peanuts, etc), a transformer costs about 35 shekel.  For bigger ones, about 90.

ben sira-if you have the newcomers guide it gives detailed instructions on exactly what papers you need, etc.-you must first get an Israeli birth cert., a US passport, and a visa
Bring:
orig. passports, valid visas for parents and child, copies of passports and visas, 2 copies of teudat ledah (israeli one), Daf knisot veyetziot for whole family, Bituach Leumi #'s of parents, proof of bank acct (first child only), passport size(israeli) pic of bby, completed form BL 1050(http://www.btl.gov.il/English%20Homepage/About/Forms%20Authorization/Forms/Insurance%20and%20Collection/Pages/1050.aspx), form BL 5025(http://www.btl.gov.il/English%20Homepage/About/Forms%20Authorization/Forms/Children/Pages/5025%20-%20Personal%20Claim%20Form%20for%20Child%20Allowance.aspx)

Bring your high school diploma just in case they ask for it-JK ;D ;D

Again, check the newcomer's guide (under BIRTH section) for exact inst.

Good Luck!!!

Looking to head to Tzfat ahead of shabbat. Will arrive TLV at 12:25p friday (from JFK, elal). What's the best/easiest/cheapest way to head north? Direct bus from tel aviv central bus departs 12:30p so that's out. Any other thoughts?

Alone or with other people. If you can fill up a car then it will likely be the same price as bus

I just called them and the guy said the hechsher is Rabbanut mehadrin and shmita is yibul nachri-I asked him if I come in now if I can see the teudah and he said hold on one minute-a minute later some other guy gets on the phone and I asked him wha the hechsher is-same story-I asked can I see the teudah if I come in and he said "no not right now they had to take it back to the office to fix the frame"-I would not eat there until you see the teudah hanging in the store again or contact rabbanut mehadrin
