sorry it was a copy paste, it is rabanut mehadrin.

I'm a huge fan of Waffle Bar in Ramat Eshkol, not sure if it's mehadrin though
It is Rubin.

What's the difference between them?

The hechsharim in E"Y are very complicated, some people claim its all politics but to be honest its not really, it is just a certain standard of kashrus due to the fact that there can be many different things that are over looked ( especially in E"Y) such as bugs, trumoes and masroes, taking off challah etc...
A sample order from worst to best is Rabnut, Rabnut Mehadrin, Rubin, Badatz.  Everyone should really ask the LOR to find out what is good to eat.

Biggest difference is which hechsherim ingredients they allow.

What happened to Bishul Akum, Terumos Umaasros etc.. And it actually doesnt make much of difference which Hechsherim on ingredients the Hechsher allows if the Mashgiach is not doing his job!!

100% Thats why I try to only eat at places with Hechsherim that a respectable/knowledgeable Rav would recommend, not just based on hearsay.

And I have heard from quite a few Rabbanim that are very knowledgeable in the Kashrus world in Israel, that Rabbanut Mehadrin Yerushalayim is pretty much worthless these days (yes even Milchig!) as @Emkay stated earlier.

It seems it used to be a very highly regarded Hashgacha which is why people still think/say it is, but the person that was in charge died a couple years back and noone took it over, so it is now effectively the same as plain Rabbanut for all intents and purposes.

He said, she said, the Ruv said.

This one tried getting in, the kitchen didn't let.

That product replaced this product.

They started relying on the other leniency.

The mashgiach said this over that. And the waiter had no idea.

The other person died, no one took over.

ZERO consistency.
Good luck not relying on hearsay. It's all hearsay. Kol Hakavod to you.

None of that changes the truth of this.
Biggest difference is which hechsherim ingredients they allow.
There may be good reason not to rely on them but that skies not take away from the existence of different standards

I'm not so sure that's the biggest difference.

1) Heter Mechira
2) speed and shifts of shochtim
3) salting efficiency.
4) hours of masgiach
5) handling of non mevushal wine
6) flour sifting requirements
7) method of taking off trumah and maaser
8) definition of C'Y vs C'S.
...... Plus many more.

Many of those are specific to their meat which doesn't make much of a difference if they are using meat from a different hechsher which is even worse. Same goes for milk. Which ingredients they allow is from the most important adjusts of a hechsher. It affects every single item every single day. That obviously includes which meats they allow etc. Almost all other issues are included in that.

Once again this thread is completely derailed so here are my two cents:
There are big potential problems with Rabbanut.
Some Rabbanuts are better than others.
Most people hold that Rabbanut Mehadrin is better than regular Rabbanut.

My suggestion when you find yourself in any Rabbanut situation: CALL THE MASHGIACH!!! some Rabbanut mashgichim are true beni torah who are knowledgeable in Halacha and can suggest to you what you should and shouldn't eat based on your standards. Others have no clue about basic kashrus or don't know what goes on at the hotel/restaurant.

I have been in places where I asked for the mashgiach who showed up within minutes and was able to tell me exactly what hachsherim every product was so that I could figure out what I was comfortable eating.
On the other hand I've had experiences where I asked for a mashgiach at a hotel at 7:00PM  right when dinner was starting and I could see that there were non Jews still cooking parts of dinner with no Jewish supervision. The secular waiter knew absolutely nothing so he turned me over to the Arab chef who ironically knew more about kashrus. The chef told me that the mashgiach was already home at that hour but let me call on his phone. The mashgiach himself wasn't sure where the chickens came from or what hechsher they were. Needless to say, I didn't eat a thing!

I've also been to a restaurant motzei the first chag of Passach right as they opened and saw that all the salt shakers were greasy meaning that they were the chometz shakers from all year round. Other condiments didn't have a kosher l'pesach on  them and when I called the Mashgiach he didn't seem ware that the place was even open on pasech and said he couldn't come that night but he would sort things out tomorrow.

As said before, where the products are allegedly sourced from is far from telling whether its up to par with your standards. Most indivuduals have no idea what to really ask to determine a specific establishments standards. The masgiach with the long white beards and streimal showing you a package of t meat saying that it was shechted my Moses only tells you that. There are hundreds more possible things that could have happened in the cooking procees.

Whats so hard for everyone to just find a Rav that they are satisfied with and follow whatever she says?
