Do Canadian passports that you get thru the embassy in Israel say the place of issue is Israel or Canada?

Try to get it in writing, some rental companies here request it for cards they're not familiar with.

Why would they ask for it in writing? they don't care if you are covered you need to pay them if something happens and then you need to fight it out with the credit card.

Please correct me if I have it wrong.

Because legally you need to have insurance.

Because legally you need to have insurance.

In Israel there's regular insurance that credit cards don't cover I think it's called LDW. This you need to take from car rental.

Then there's an extra insurance in Israel it's called השתתפות עצמי any damages that happen up to a few thousand shekel you need to pay from your pocket. This type no one forces you to take it.

Please help me understand this once and for all.
I get confused every time I rent.

Do you mean cdw as the one you don't need to take?

There are 2 types of insurance - LDW & CDW. In Israel LDW is mandatory and CDW is optional. Some credit cards will cover CDW as long as you decline it from the rental agency. LDW cannot be declined as it is mandatory

That's exactly what thought.

Now why would they ask you to see in writing from credit card?

If you read the T&C of the rental agreements they all say that in order to waive cdw and tp you have to have a cc that covers it and provide written proof

I know lots of Israelis decline it without a credit card, and the car rentals are fine with it.

What is up with everyone eating at HaChatzer in Yerushalayim? It's Rabbanut Yerushalayim, which for meat places, I understand means that (besides for other potential issues), it's not Glatt Kosher. How do so many frum people eat there?

Many many people do not understand the kashrus situation here.

Sheesh. I'm also talking about people who live in Israel, not just visitors. Am I correct that Rabbanut Yerushalayim (non-Mehadrin) does not check for Glatt?

Random tidbit, by law if any Rabbi around the world certifies something as kosher the rabbanut must also when it gets imported.

It's always best to ask your LOR, especially during Shemitta.
