ummm, can you please provide a source for this? in any event, is it ANY rabbi?

http://www.jerusalemkoshernews.com/2007/01/the-complicated-kosher-scene-in-israel-an-introduction/

According to this, a Rabbanut must except the hechsher of any other Rabbanut in Israel.  Being that there are Rabbanuts in Israel that will accept pretty much any hechsher worldwide, a Rabbanut can be forced by law to accept the kashrus of a rabbi they don't hold of, potentially any rabbi in the world.
The moment there is a secular law mandating that a hechsher deem a product kosher, the hechsher loses it ability to provide hashgocha in the traditional sense.

ETA: The primary difference between Rabbanut and Rabbanut Mehadrin is that the law does not dictate to the Rabbanut what they must call Mahadrin, only what they must call kosher.   So, at least initially, the whole purpose of  Mehadrin was the Rabbnut's way of reclaiming their ability to provide meaningful hashgocha.  Essentially, the law defined kosher, so they created a code name for real kosher, called mehadrin, which they could define by halacha.

Random observations from my recent trip-

Did the paragliding in Netanya, 7 Winds Paragliding , was great, even for those afraid of heights, except if they do loops I didnt like that much. Otherwise is calm.

Also horseback riding on the beach in netanya. Very nice. It is in a deserted beach area, so there was no more pritzus than when walking on the street really.

renting cars - have done in the past a minivan but this time took two cars. If you have two drivers then two cars works nicely, it fits more people, is about half of a minivan ($30/day for each car as opposed to $130 for minivan), and I think gas is cheaper too since the minvans are guzzlers.

Did the puzzle quest in Jselm, was a lot of fun for a group that likes to think, but is very expensive relatively I think 80-90 nis per person for an hour. chose it because it was hot outside but unbelievably there was no AC.

Segway at the old train station which goes into the old city is fun.

this is not really an "activity", but i can't wait to get back to Jlem (for many reasons including) to get a real quality 100% unbonded leather belt from Belt-In on king george.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Belt-In-%D7%91%D7%9C%D7%98-%D7%90%D7%99%D7%9F/173770612804730
U choose the strip of leather (all colors) and the buckle, and they size u, affix the buckle and put the holes in in store. The belt i got 2 years ago for under $30 is in the best shape of any other (usually brand name but below $20 on sale) belt i have ever had. really a great stop.
thanx for the advice on the belt i picked one up loving it already
