Not so easy to "just ask a Rabbi". If you are at a hotel and want to eat breakfast and there are no kosher restaurants nearby why not speak to the Mashgiach? Once he tells you that the vegetables are Efrati, the bread is from Angel the Cheese is all Eida and that he lights the fires you can end up with a very hearty Mehadrin breakfast.

Asking a rav is easy, finding one that agrees with you may be hard.
If your rav tells you that's OK then KOL Hakovad. But those are the very elementary basics and there are plenty other issues.

Where can I get a student card?
Is having a student visa enough to obtain a student card?

Do you mean a credit card?

Try Leumi on King George, most banks will give you a very hard time.

He said, she said, the Ruv said.

This one tried getting in, the kitchen didn't let.

That product replaced this product.

They started relying on the other leniency.

The mashgiach said this over that. And the waiter had no idea.

The other person died, no one took over.

ZERO consistency.
Good luck not relying on hearsay. It's all hearsay. Kol Hakavod to you.
I fail to understand your point (do you even have one?!?)

All I was saying is to call a competent and knowledgeable Halachic authority, and not rely on Hearsay. Why is that so difficult to comprehend?

Thought so too, but someone told me recently that a cousin of his (a student from the US) got a student Rav-Kav, I'll try to find out more details.

Then I apologize for not being clear.

My point was that things change radically with regard to Hashgachos in Israel, and was just pointing out one example. Therefore  people should contact a competent Halachic authority. Thats all.

As said before, where the products are allegedly sourced from is far from telling whether its up to par with your standards. Most indivuduals have no idea what to really ask to determine a specific establishments standards. The masgiach with the long white beards and streimal showing you a package of t meat saying that it was shechted my Moses only tells you that. There are hundreds more possible things that could have happened in the cooking procees.

Whats so hard for everyone to just find a Rav that they are satisfied with and follow whatever she says?
Couldn't agree more.

Has anyone stayed at the Ramada in Hadera? Seems to have great reviews(since the new grand opening). Seems to be really cheap if you use the Cash and points option for around 100 a night (3000+65)! Please let me know as I am considering it as an alternative to Netanya.

Once again this thread is completely derailed so here are my two cents:
There are big potential problems with Rabbanut.
Some Rabbanuts are better than others.
Most people hold that Rabbanut Mehadrin is better than regular Rabbanut.

My suggestion when you find yourself in any Rabbanut situation: CALL THE MASHGIACH!!! some Rabbanut mashgichim are true beni torah who are knowledgeable in Halacha and can suggest to you what you should and shouldn't eat based on your standards. Others have no clue about basic kashrus or don't know what goes on at the hotel/restaurant.

I have been in places where I asked for the mashgiach who showed up within minutes and was able to tell me exactly what hachsherim every product was so that I could figure out what I was comfortable eating.
On the other hand I've had experiences where I asked for a mashgiach at a hotel at 7:00PM  right when dinner was starting and I could see that there were non Jews still cooking parts of dinner with no Jewish supervision. The secular waiter knew absolutely nothing so he turned me over to the Arab chef who ironically knew more about kashrus. The chef told me that the mashgiach was already home at that hour but let me call on his phone. The mashgiach himself wasn't sure where the chickens came from or what hechsher they were. Needless to say, I didn't eat a thing!
The main problem today with rabnut mehadrin today is bushel akum a rav thats very invloved in kashurus told me could be fleshgis might  be better then milk because less problems with bishul akum.....

Bishul akum is rarely a real issue bdi'eved for ashkenezim even with lax mashgichim since once a pilot is lit it will work until it goes out. Even if it goes out mid day it will still be nishar chom when relit which would be machshir the new fire too. Of course we try not to get ot bdi'eved....

We are a bochurim in a new dira. I was told that I have to give in my passport so we could get a discount on the taxes... Is this legit? What happens if someone doesn't pay the taxes down the road and it's still under my name?
