I hate to beat a dead horse, but if it's a steak you are looking for, 100% of the time the one in Skyline is better that LB, imho

As far as desserts, I didn't like either

Not looking to argue with you, just to let people know there are many who feel otherwise.

I disagree on both statements. Lehem Basar steak is always amazing & their desserts are as well.

Agree on the steak. Not a big dessert guy, and don't remember.
I was in Skyline once or twice, and the steak was not something I would go back for

Whats a good restaurant with good steaks and good desserts in or around yerushalayim? With a good hechsher.
What is the Kashrus Hechsher on the Palace Restaurant in the Waldorf Jerusalem?
Is the food good?

I have not been to Israel for some 6 years, and never was in the Waldorf, but I hear/read that it apparently has many "black hat"and chasidish guests. Curious how they rely on regular Rabanut, is there a particularly reliable maschgiach there albeit not classified as Mahadrin?

The mashgiach told me that everything in the hotel is mehadrin. From what I've heard, the reason to not have a mehadrin hechsher is that they don't allow jewish employees on shabbos in the hotel.

Interesting, thanks. Who doesn't allow Jewish employees on Shabbos, the Hotel or the Mehadrin Hechsher?

That's the really. The hechsher is that the hechsher is.

Apparently people have spoken with the maschgiach on site,  and like him and his beard.  I'm not sure what that hechsher is called (how about: "someone on ddf once asked a guy with a beard in the kitchen if the food he was serving is "mehadrin", whatever that means,  and he said it's kosher enough for someone who would rely on that").

I'm not saying you can never get comfortable based on talking to the mashgiach that the standards are higher than the overarching hechsher. But I don't think you can get there through 16th hand info from ddf. I think you need someone who knows the mashgiach, and knows that the mashgiach understands the question being asked.

I challenge you to find a mashgiach who will tell you that his oversight is actually rather poor. Like, "well, the meat is all Rubin, but my standards on overseeing the kitchen a bit weak and I probably miss a bishul akum issue here and there, and sometimes I don't pay attention to which silverware ends up in which dishwasher."

Precisely.

There are 2 problems with sub par hashgachos. Weak policies and weak implementation.
