In Yerushalaim, you will no longer  be able to load a RK on the bus with the driver or pay cash for the ride.

Hopefully will be reversed promptly.

I have a feeling he was referring to this:

Its one aspect of the overhaul. I agree you should not be able to load it on the bus.

After they put machines either at every bus stop, or on every bus. FWIW, the ATM by the Mir isn't reading Rav Kavs despite the signage attached to it.

They haven't even managed to put the supplementary card readers on every bus yet.

Good idea, horrendously implemented.  Unfortunately typical.

Also, fantastic idea to experiment on a city with a very large smartphone free population.

That's ridiculous. Why do you need the option to load up your Rav Kav at every single stop?

Since a very large portion of the population have no way to check their balance or load their card from home.

There are plenty of places to load them up, no reason to have by every stop.

There are many people who live 10 min + walk away from the closest loading station.  I've sampled 2 loading stations that failed to read two different RKs.

So walk 10 minutes or find sometime in however often you fill up your card that you pass by a location.  Still no reason to be allowed to do it on the bus. Do they let you reload your MetroCard on a NY bus?

Tell that to my 80 year old neighbor. Or a mother going out with 6 kids.

Not necessarily but in order to reload online ( using the card) or app you need the chip. Only place you can refill using a RK with the chip or cash is Mayan 2000 and other such stores listed in pamphlets they were handing out.

Also the ATM's that can refill RK only work with Israeli CC.
