Each family member needs their own or is there a family card ?
There are no family Rav Kavs but you can tell the bus driver how many people you want to pay for when you get on and then he'll charge that # of people to your card.

On the light rail you can't do that AFAIK, you just tap your card when you get on and there's no option to increase the # of people, but you can just buy individual paper train tickets with cash or cc at any train station. Just remember to slide the paper ticket into the machine when you get on the light rail to validate it.

I've never seen a driver throw someone off a bus. Most will probably tell you to pay later if they don't have one to sell to you. But don't try that in the light rail. There's nowhere to buy one on the light rail and they come around checking probably 25-50% of rides IME. In theory they can also check on a bus (they're supposed to on busses where you can board from the back door and tap your card in the back of the bus) but IIRC I've only ever seen that once, a few years ago.
i was thrown off the light rail for and got 250 shek fine (iirc)
and i use to go a lot from BB to Jerusalem prob 50% of the time they would come up an check

Yes, like I said I find they check 25-50% of rides on the light rail, and the fine is high.

Wow, I didn't know that. On the 402? I was only thinking about city busses because on intercity busses ppl mostly get on at the front and pay on their way on (unless the driver wants to get moving quickly and tells ppl to pay later).

How did they check? A guy got on at some point?

Light rail = Yes.
Everyone needs their own card/ticket. (Tickets can be purchased at the station with cash, though it doesn't include transfer to busses but RavKavs do.

Busses = No.
As long as their is sufficient funds, you could pay for the entire bus.

Don't try to cheat on the light rail, it's not worth it. They're very strict, and extremely active...

You could get free RavKavs at Egged locations. The popular ones are  in the mall near Belz, and in the central bus station.
All you need is a passport.

Good to know.
Hence why I wrote "IINM". Didn't have any recent DP's. A while ago they still weren't working.

Waze keeps you safe. You can use maps if you're scared as they're more cautious

you are almost right, because waze does take you in to some neighborhoods that are a bit scary (my personal experience), so i would tell you to plan your drive before and check out what way waze gives you and make sure it's safe

It should keep you away from any stone throwing neighborhoods. Yes, it will bring you past Arab villages, but not the terribly dangerous ones.
I'm not who you think I am.
