whats the ambiance in the Brazilian place like? With 12 guys are we better booking a "party" with a menu or would you say this all you can eat meat thing would be better? we will not make it to the early think... as we would go there after kotel tour so close to 10pm for 2 hours....

If anyone has any other recommendations please let me know. Seems like no one can agree on milchig... we need one more very good fleishig place then (since tverya is out..) any other suggestions? (can't be hole in wall, need to impress some not yet kosher keeping people...)

Okay, Papagaio is booked... costing us 220 shekel a head... (we can't make it early, and this includes entrees, dessert wine and beer...) sounds actually pretty good...

Seems like the consensus is that Rimon in Ben Yehuda is the best milchig option, so I'll go there for motzei shabbos..

Now I still need one more fleshig good one for the last night (it'll have to be something decent as Papagaio sounds great and don't want to disappoint after that)...

Also which falafal/shawarma places are good mehadrin on and around ben yehuda?  Is Moshiko a good hechsher?

How about Shawarma/Falafel in Tveriya and tsfat?

Thanks again!!

in tiverya theres a shwarma place under rubin on the tayelet next door to cherry. in jerusalem you have entrecote in har chotzvim, red heifer, or maybe rimon meat which i think is delicious. theres also a sushi place on emek refaim called taiku. make sure you print out a 10% off coupon for papagaio.    could you elaborate on the 220 rate you got there?

Moish, which of the ones you mentioned would you give best marks? as far as nice surroundings, good food... (pref centrally located... were al the leonardo plaza..)

I called Papagaio asked for an event pricing (we're 13ppl) and they said for an additional 50 shek they through in wine, beer, drinks and I think desserts and entrees... so it's the complete meal... sound great! Thanks for the recommendation!

with red heifer i havent eaten there in almost 2 years. rimon meat has good food and price but the ambiance is lacking. youre best bet is across the street from the plaza on ramban. its called keyara. it has good food and nice ambiance. it's probably what youre looking for as its the closest youll get to an american style restaurant, and location wise its great. theres also a 10% off coupon there.  beware of falling into the plazas trap and eating in primavera.

Keyara seems lovely... you're right about the setting, looks really good.

I'm just a little concerned with portion size.... I know it's not cheap (seems like dinner will run 200-250 a head) but if it's mediocre portions, that might not do...

Have you tried? Ideally we would want to order general serving plates, so we can just sit and enjoy... (not each one for themselves..)

I'll try calling them tomorrow

Keyara is really good and nice another place with a nice sized party room and cheaper with great food as well would be RYU on emek! A great nice relaxed ambiance dairy place I would say is bait ticho it's really good and don't think many people know about it so it's usually quiet and motsai shabbat they have live music nothin crazy just a keyboard and sax! Very relaxing and nice outdoor garden patio

You advised me against it, so I stopped.
However -correct me if I'm wrong- one of the taanis against it, was that so many places were suddenly given a hechsher, which is a valid point.
I must say that I noticed in tachana hamerkazit in yeru, quit a lot of posters promoting rabanut mehadrin restaurants, but when I got there, the mehadrin part wasn't there. Upon me asking them, they said that it was recently removed. And that at some 3 places, in a small area...
Not proving anything, just saying.

Rabbanut mehadrin has its ups and downs and its very hard to know when and what and where you can rely on it.

Rimon meat makes the best steak sandwich on earth with their Philly Steak Sandwich, but it was closed for renovations when I was just there.
