Anyone know of a house for rent in northern Israel for eight people preferably with a pool?  This is a last-minute trip for this coming Sunday / Monday.  Any leads are appreciated

Agadir Bnei brak (Machpud) mildly interesting. There's a good hummus in שוק הפשפשים that's rabanut jaffa mehadrin. Aside from that-same old.

Astounding how much more robust the mehadrin kosher scene in NYC/Miami has become and how far behind Israel's is.

100%

To be fair, Jerusalem is far ahead of the merkaz, especially for those eating rabanut mehuderet.

Like in every place it's a question of demand.
Little demand in the merkaz hence little supply, imho

Even in Jerusalem, mehadrin places are so stale compared to the US when you'd think the local and tourist market would easily support better.

Mehuderet is the ultimate example of YMMV. Noone ever give a straight answer about kashrus here. Hopefully peope like Rabbi Weiner will make more inroads.

Why do places bother with mehuderet or mehadrin instead of just getting a respected Rabbi or agency to supervise like in the US?
Surely they can charge enough extra on each dish to make it viable like in the US.

Like?
NYC has Barnea, Mike's, Reserve Cut, Rothschild, Tabernacle, Wall St Grill, etc, etc.
Miami has Street, Fuego, Kosh, Harbour, Backyard, etc, etc.
Chicago has Shallots, Evita, Milts, etc
LA has Tierra Sur, La Gondola, Pat's, Shilohs, etc

Israel has...Lechem Basar?

Surely they can charge enough extra on each dish to make it viable like in the US.

Some places are in locations that the "respected Rabbi's" won't give a hechsher in. It's also very limiting in terms of shchitas I believe. The people opening "finer" places are really not targeting the frum tourist and tbh a shocking number of them will eat virtually anywhere anyway.

There are much more mehadrin places than 5-10 years ago, just not fine dining. Fleishigs is a huge weak spot. Milchik scene is much better.

I got yes and no. But mostly got that it depends on the individual restaurant, individual mashgiach, and the actual shechita used.

I have not gotten anything other that an unequivocal no about mehuderet. Mehadrin is more YMMV. Then again, not a single one of the people I speak to would even entertain a discussion about WAJ.
