I'm very wary of Airbnb in Israel
+1
I've only used when people that I personally know recommend a specific one

I'm very wary of Airbnb in Israel
Why?

I had a bad experience with one, but it's the only time I booked an Airbnb that didn't have a ton of great reviews and it taught me not to do that again. Had a good experience with another that had good reviews.

IF the place has lots of great reviews and you're familiar with the exact area why wouldn't you do it?

I have heard of countless bad experiences and very few good ones. The first thing a Israeli thinks when he sees a platform like Airbnb is "How can I use this to rent out my old dirty smelly tzimmer to unsuspecting Americans and double book and charge triple". Sorry for the profiling etc. Been here for too long.

Wouldn't a lot of great reviews mitigate that risk?

People here have a low bar.
You can usually get a sense of where the bar is from reading the reviews.

Personally I've had good experiences where the reviews were overwhelmingly positive and provided details about what was good. Lots of places with hundreds of good reviews. Obviously the pictures have to look good too, area has to be good, etc.

many/Most reviews are from foreigners
i'll only do an airbnb based on enough reviews and consistent good experiences, or if it's an area with minimal options, such as the adom badarom festival

I would probably do it too if I had no choice. Like I would do a tzimmer... High chances of failure.

Looking for travel advice.  Visiting our son studying in Israel in late September. Four people in total.
9/13 - 9/17 Sea Land Suites in Tel Aviv. 20k Chase UR points per night. Blind Museum, beach, which shul for YK?
9/17 - 9/19 Cousin’s apt. in Efrat
9/19 - 9/26 Stay Jaffa apt. in Jerusalem. 20k Chase points per night  Old City tour, Masada/Ein Gedi, Beer Sheva
9/26 - 10/2 Prima Galil hotel in Tiberias. 28k Chase points per night.  Day tour Safed, Golan, water sports, hikes

Suggestions for separate tours or hire one guide for the entire stay?
Recommend meals for Succot?
Except for Prima Galil, no breakfast is included. Suggestions?

I did that one last year in August. We got there very early so it was empty and enjoyable.
But by 10am it was packed, making it quick challenging, especially with toddlers.
