1. Since we hold that all bugs are Nosen Ta'am L'fgam, it will be botul brov, as the Rama and the Aruch Hashulchan (who, according to R' Moshe, is more reliable than the Mishna Brura) hold that a berya which is pogum is botul. This is due to the fact that berya isn't botul due to chashivus, and obviously a bug is not a davar chashuv
2. If it's squashed it's not a berya
3. If it's not visible to the naked eye, it's not assur (personally I've yet to "see" a bug in any nori)
4. Berya is only not botul md'rabbanan, so if there is a sofek whether or not there is bugs, it would be ok (and there is a chazkas kashrus until you see 3 bugs in the actual food)
So why did you pasken for me that I can't eat it?

the bugs ARE indeed nikur thus rendering moot the whole bittul conversation
a quick google search might help. see here http://www.kosherconsumer.org/sushi.htm etc

as far as bittul is concerned (which really isnt relevant anyways)
1. besides for seahorses, baby crustaceans (like shrimp) are prevalent as well. it would be quite difficult to label them 'pagum'
4. we dont say safek derabanan lekula when its huchzak, which apparently it is according to the kashrus organizations

While I appreciate your insight, my question was directed at Chaikel, as I understood from him there are other problems, that he didn't address

I don't pasken. I spoke to someone, and IIRC, what he said was these may be other problems when dealing with rabbinute, and best stay away.

Would you mind showing me? I didn't notice it saying that the bugs are nikur in the linked article.

There are whole seahorses and shrimp in nori? This I have to see

4. we dont say safek derabanan lekula when its huchzak, which apparently it is according to the kashrus organizations
1. We don't?
2. I haven't learned through the whole huchzak sugya, but it is my understanding that it is a creation by those fueling the whole "you can't eat anything 'cause it has bugs" fad.

Thoughts on this article that the chief rabbinate is recommending against buying gush katif lettuce?

How in thw world does the existence of this lettuce affect the hlacha of regular lettuce?
איכא דרכא אחרינא?

Probably just a ynet mess up.

While R Ammer is not political , its hard to be certain who 'researched' it. At any rate, the question has very little to do w halcha. If its unhealthy one must refrain from eating it.

For any Americans currently in Israel who didn't vote yet, your only chance left is tomorrow (tuesday, election day) at the American embassy from 8am-12pm, that's right, 4 hours!

Leaving to Israel on Sunday for 10 days. What are the can't-miss restaurants in Israel? Perusing this thread I see tons of names, but which ones should I absolutely make sure to go to? Jerusalem, Dead Sea, up North - anywhere.

If you're a steak person, I don't think there is really any "can't miss" places. If you want a good shwarma, hit up Halo Taimon, and a good falafel, see that whole thread.

Sheyan, Papagaio, Modern, El Gaucho. Be sure to get %10 coupons for each of those from eLuna.com before you go.
