Surprised (aside from Dan) I can't get a top 3 ranking from anyone who's been there more recently or lives there. If someone asked me what the three best restaurants in NYC were I'd tell you in a New York minute.

Like many here have said, there isn't really a "can't miss" eatery in Israel. When I was living abroad and would come visit, I would make sure to hit up Halo Taimon, and Miros.

+1

There's also the fact that of the restaurants we like, we like each one for vastly different reasons. So to rank them in order of preference would be nearly impossible.

And I did list four in one post before... ;)

If the Cafe Rimon Philly Steak Sandwich is anything like it used to be (circa 2007 and 2009) then I wouldn't dare miss it.  They were closed during my 2010 visit.

Since then we've heard a negative review from Chuchem who said it's not like it used to be before they remodeled and a positive one from rots5.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Mixed reviews here. My wife liked it; me, not so much.

Referring to the Philly Steak Sandwich? Or the restaurant in general?

The sandwich. For the restaurant in general, it's quite the opposite: I like it; my wife, not so much. ;)

The new decor looks nice, but she's not so crazy about their menu. (Neither am I, truth be told, but I just pick out the few things that I like.)

Make sure to check eLuna.com for %10 off coupons for each place (they may not have them all, but they have many restaurants), and print them before you leave home (restaurants will generally not apply the discount if you just display it on your phone screen).

Though if you find yourself stranded, needing a coupon and having nowhere to print it once you're here, you're more than welcome to swing by my place to pick one up. :)

my favorite meat restaurants in Jerusalem (in no particular order):
1. Modern (only open for dinner on tues and thurs)
2. Sheyan (dont miss the battered mushroom appetizer)
3. Papagaio (brazilian table)
4. Cafe Rimon

its worthwhile to note that whats lacking on the israeli restaurant scene is consistency
thus, you are never guaranteed a good experience.
similarly, you cannot judge an establishment unless youve eaten there a few times

with that in mind, the retaurants listed above have given me a good experience most of the times ive dined there

How much p/p?

It is the all-you-can-eat.

I don't recall exactly how much it costs, as my wife and I haven't tried it in years - we don't really get our money's worth from it (we eat very little, quantity-wise).

I can't speak for the restaurant as a whole, but I just had the Pesto Gnocchi at The Speghettis in Mamilla and it was delicious. My wife got a salmon pasta and she liked it, too.
