Which LOR does allow it?
Plenty of frum jews eat in Dunkin Donuts in Flatbush. That doesn't make the hashgacha reliable

That is the same point I was making to him don't say ppl don't because they do
It doesn't mean it is right but people go

I never said that people don't go there. I went there a couple of times before I learnt a little bit more about hechsherim. I regret it, and I feel bad for any other religious people that are still eating there.
Yes, regular rabbanut is not and will not be considered a reliable hechsher by around100% of orthodox LOR's.

I stand by my words.

Best Jerusalem Restaurants
« Reply #2382 on: April 13, 2013, 03:51:16 PM »
Looking for the absolute best restaurants in Jerusalem..  For someones 50th bday, doesn't normally keep kosher, and is used to high standard.

It needs to have amazing food (very into his meats), nice ambiance and open late (alcohol is a must.. but I suppose that shouldn't be a problem)

What are the options?? (needs to be mehadrin hechsher that lubavitchers can eat - not lubavitch shchita though)

Also side note, what is the best dairy place to match above criteria? (need great desserts - cheesecakes and the like)

Thanks

Do ppl who "care and know" about hechseirim in Israel generally eat "bedatz beis Yosef"?
Or more particular - do ppl eat in Gabriell's (meat!) ??

( I am almost sure the dairy gabriela is rabanut mehadrin..)

Didn't we start a hechsher thread with these discussions so we could keep this thread clean from them?

Gabriel is the best choice around for meat. Though it is Badatz Beis Yosef so ask your LOR for his opinion. IMO it is reliable. Also their restaurant supervision is considered very good by yechiel spira who has visited dozens and dozens of them over the years. If anyone wants to respond to the kashrus info do that in the hechsherim thread please.

As far as dairy, visit Lucianas, for a delicious and classy place. Or Greg for delicious and relaxed place.

Gabriel and noya are about same caliber,
Papag's is IMO not such a "nice ambiance ",

The new red heifer is very nice and grey meat too- and very good hechsher!

And there's always Keyara - for those big fans

Pricey!
As i wrote earlier- The appetizer was a decently priced (like 60 shek I think) and very good! (Jalapino chicken fingers)
My wife's main course- chicken breast stuffed with sweet potato was also very good- and decently priced (like 80) - and came with a side..
My steak- which was also good  - but was 150 shek an didn't include side.. Just can get one for 18 instead of the reg 25 (or so)
