Destination help
« on: August 08, 2012, 12:56:26 PM »
Looking to send my folks away from a Sunday-Thursday this month.

My mother likes the water, and scenery and relaxing and my father likes to walk around in crowded areas and people watch and see interesting things.

I need a place with a good combination of both. Any ideas?

First place that came to mind was Miami but I'd rather send them someplace with better weather.

LAX.

I've never been there myself. Is there a nice area to stay (think beach) that is still close enough to all the happening part of LA?

And closer ideas?

For the person who wants beaches, it has. For the person who likes to people watch, it has (plenty and all types).

As far as specific accommodations, I'll let someone else chime in.

i would love to send my folks away as well  ::)
but as for the question

1) for beach/water, Santa Monica pier/beach is nice
it got some nice attractions, and its a beach.... with water !

2)for people watching, go down to hollywood blvd, where all the stars are ( idk if your folks are into that stuff anyway )
lots of "interesting" people and stuff around there in the pm

my in laws live in the hancock park area, so i dont really know of locations in terms of hotels
most of the kosher places to eat are located in the hancock park or pico areas, which are about 20 minutes apart.

there are some nice hotels in the beverly area, which is not far from the jewish neighborhoods, but i dont know how those are in terms of prices

the other place would be the valley, but i dont know anything about there, except i think you are further away from most attractions

Will do. I am actually in the middle of going through the pages (quite a bit of them! )

Does anyone else have any other ideas besides LA?

Though I am starting to think the longer flight time is worth it.

For your requirements, LAX fits the bill the best IMHO.

Though you could consider the Caribbean (not as many people watching opportunities though).
