Click on "United air travel award rules:"
"You may redeem miles for travel in United Global FirstSM, United First®, United Business® or United BusinessFirst® , even if the space is not available. In these cases, United Economy in the same award type must be confirmed, and the front cabin will be waitlisted. For example, a Saver United First award must be confirmed in Saver United Economy to be eligible for waitlisting. If the courtesy waitlist does not clear, it will expire 24 hours before itinerary departure, and you will automatically be added to the airport upgrade standby list upon check-in. In these cases, you will be confirmed on a space-available basis by a United airport representative at the gate once the flight has closed for check-in. For United BusinessFirst and United Business travel awards, the difference in miles will be refunded when the United BusinessFirst or United Business class segment of the trip could not be confirmed. Waitlist requests may only be made over the phone with your local United Reservations office"

Top clears first
Thanks. Unfortunately it's full now. Though a lot can change from now until 6. (Both better and worse)

But what you guys go through for this is mind boggling lol. Next time I'm just booking LH with a stopover.

I did a plan b reward for myself wife and kid. Its lax-ewr and then ewr-tlv. We were already confirmed for first from lax-ewr. If i want to go to the airport 24 hours before the flight to get us all PR1 status, can i go myself for all three tickets or do i have to shlep all of them along? Also can i do the request for pr1 status for my second flight (ewr-tlv) in lax since it will be within 24 hours of the ewr-tlv flight? Thanx in advance!!

And lastly, are the lines to be referred to the clerk at the airport about PR-1 status still

"If the agents in the airport are all clueless you should direct them to look up “gg onestandby” in their system (they’ll know exactly what this is) and look around lines 81 which spell out the details of the procedure for this award."

or has it been changed to lines 32-57?

Can I set up a Plan B for only the outbound portion of a RT itinerary? (as I don't have enough miles to cover both portions in biz)

Only one way is fine

i actually did for the return as UA only had early am flights home from Europe and I'd kill the day. The nonstop here was amazing as I get to sleep and arrived early enough to have a day.

But in all honestly for next time if I found a decent LH connection I don't know if I'd go through the headache of going to the airport 24 hours before and not finding out if I'm cleared until boarding time.

I booked NYC-LAX-MEL in XN last night. Will I be charged a change fee if I call within the 24hr cancellation period to set up a Plan B?

No.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

And I would be charged a change fee if it's more then 24hr?
Also, what about if departure is less then 21 days?
