Why not just book AA to JFK? They've been opening tons of space in both J and F on LAX-JFK (and the reverse) within 2 days before the flight. Almost guaranteed to get 5 seats. Just need to wait till 2 days out.

Yes. On this particular flight, it seems to me that seats open up a week or two in advance - for example, now three days of the upcoming week have 7+ saver awards in business.

booking for succos time... and can't afford the risk of waiting until 5 days before.

As Dan said. The system will not pick up the open seats if they are fewer than the people on the booking. You may wanna split the PNR to your advantage.

So not like CS91 said before, in other words? Split the bookings so that if fewer seats open, at least we get those?

I'm looking to fly NYC - TLV next weekend. June 28-July 4th.. both the later flights.

I've never done Plan B. Based on the availability do you think I will get the upgrade?

Trying to book OGG-HNL-EWR. Rep keeps telling me that the first flight operated by Island Air cant even be on the same reservation in order to waitlist? Is this correct?

Not sure why that would change anything. I did it on EWR-HNL-LIH where the second leg was on Hawaiian.

I figured they were just misinformed but I was already on the phone for an hour, Wasn't about to HUCA. The only thing it costs me extra is the $5.60 per flight.
