Click on "United air travel award rules:"
"You may redeem miles for travel in United Global FirstSM, United First®, United Business® or United BusinessFirst® , even if the space is not available. In these cases, United Economy in the same award type must be confirmed, and the front cabin will be waitlisted. For example, a Saver United First award must be confirmed in Saver United Economy to be eligible for waitlisting. If the courtesy waitlist does not clear, it will expire 24 hours before itinerary departure, and you will automatically be added to the airport upgrade standby list upon check-in. In these cases, you will be confirmed on a space-available basis by a United airport representative at the gate once the flight has closed for check-in. For United BusinessFirst and United Business travel awards, the difference in miles will be refunded when the United BusinessFirst or United Business class segment of the trip could not be confirmed. Waitlist requests may only be made over the phone with your local United Reservations office"

Just made a EWR-TLV plan B booking. For some odd reason was charged 98,000 miles and $23.06 rather than 78,000 and $5.60.

How do I fix that?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I'm not familiar with the rates, but I would putpac if you were charged the wrong amount...

Just spoke with 2 agents. The first said it couldn't be done. The second came back saying that he spoke with a supervisor who said they used to be able to do it but cant anymore. i asked him about CORE, he paused for a second and then said, it took him a minute to remember what core is, they haven't been using that for a while. I will try again later. Anyone have any luck lately with plan B?

Thank you. I just booked for 3 passengers RT. Is it suggested to put all 3 on 1 booking?

I think that if you put all 3 on 1 booking and there is 2 or less business saver available then non of the 3 will be upgraded however if it is separate bookings then even 1 out of 3 can be upgraded

I asked that question to the agent who made the booking. He said that if one became available they would give me that option. I don’t  know if that means at the airport? Would it make sense to cancel them now and make new bookings?

there is much more risk that you won't get the available seat if it is one booking

Has anyone ever tried (I’m sorry if it’s discussed in the previous 125 pages) to modify an existing coach reservation to take additional miles and change the reservation to Plan B?  I’m going to try but I’d like to see if I can get confirmation that it’s possible before beating up phone agents.

If I booked as Saver Award, and then they waitlist it, can it work? Both flight show up, The economy as confirmed, and the Business as waitlisted.

If not confirmed before, I should make it on standby, no? The it looks like now, most flights have some J seats avail by takeoff.
