Click on "United air travel award rules:"
"You may redeem miles for travel in United Global FirstSM, United First®, United Business® or United BusinessFirst® , even if the space is not available. In these cases, United Economy in the same award type must be confirmed, and the front cabin will be waitlisted. For example, a Saver United First award must be confirmed in Saver United Economy to be eligible for waitlisting. If the courtesy waitlist does not clear, it will expire 24 hours before itinerary departure, and you will automatically be added to the airport upgrade standby list upon check-in. In these cases, you will be confirmed on a space-available basis by a United airport representative at the gate once the flight has closed for check-in. For United BusinessFirst and United Business travel awards, the difference in miles will be refunded when the United BusinessFirst or United Business class segment of the trip could not be confirmed. Waitlist requests may only be made over the phone with your local United Reservations office"

Is there any difference between I or IN regarding space clearing?

IN may have better availability.

In any case, you can try to add the OGG-HNL leg ones you are set up on HNL-EWR.

Maybe they were saying that they can't waitlist partners which maybe true.

I know you can't waitlist partners. She put me on hold for 30 minutes before insisting that it couldn't even be on the same reservation.
I already made both reservations so I'll just try to combine them.

You can't combine a PNR. Just cancel out the interisland and get a rep to add it into the longhaul.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I had OGG-HNL-EWR all on one PNR with the OGG-HNL portion with Island Air and the HNL-EWR portion on waitlist. So rep is 100% wrong.

As for combining the PNRs, I didn't do that, but I got them to add the OGG-HNL portion to the already existing HNL-EWR PNR at no charge.

Just make sure when adding the OGG leg that they don't reprise the itinerary and that they leave the I class request there.

Will it go back into inventory immediately?

Ive answered your question.  And I think it's been discussed in this thread a fee times as well.  IN is  business award availability for 1K members.  It may or may not have better availability.

Oh. Got it not. I read it that it may have better availability as in you weren't sure.
Not that it may have based on the situation.

i booked united

ewr-tlv economy class NO waitlist to I class

fco-ewr economy with waitlist to I class
ewr-hnl I class (was available when i booked-will switch to another date)

for 130k points for 2 people

FCO- EWR cleared to I class but the reservation says to call united to have ticket reissued.

I think the original amount of miles deducted was less than this should cost.  Are they going to request more miles?
The I class from EWR-HNL was booked with original booking.  Should i call united or just show up to the airport and hope for the best?
any advice is appreciated.

Are they going to request more miles?
do you mean to say that whenever plan B clears they have to reissue the ticket?
thank you

Thinking of booking a single plan B ticket on UA 179 EWR-->HKG on Wednesday 10/26.  Is this a waitlist y'all would expect to clear?  Anyone have success stories from this route?
