It's pretty much useless when employees have the power to make up rules

& this is coming from a guy that has 3 pr1's under my belt

In the end it didn't matter because not a single seat opened up, so even the GSs at the top of the waitlist didn't get in.. I made the Plan B booking in January for September travel in the hopes that IN would open up at least once in the interim, but it didn't happen. I guess I should have bitten the bullet and booked a Business Standard award while it was still an option... then again, I made it in one piece in E+, and I have 67.5k miles per person more than I would have otherwise.

But--I would like to think that if there had been space, I would have had a chance at getting it. I read something on FT about PR-1 not being the proper name for the priority waitlist, it may be WAI or WDI or something like that. Anyone have any info to that effect?

One other thing--I referenced ggonestandby but I said to check around line 81 not line 85. Oops.

Try check-in agent, and if that doesn't work, try the lounge. Gate is probably too late.

does it matter if you book the economy ticket first and then call to do plan b or have to do whole thing at once?

booking first is fine. at least it seems that way. they eventually figured out what i wanted and deducted the miles. says I class requested. but nothing showing up in the upgrade list yet

Flight is in less than 24 hours and my name still isn't showing up in the upgrade list. There are 2 unsold seats. 2 reps told me that I'm number 1 in the priority wait list. And it isn't letting me check in online which a rep said is because I'm in the wait list.

Once you check in your name will show up online, make sure to check in.

it isnt letting me check in online. says see agent. im guessing the kiosk wont work either so i have to wait for them to be at the desk. still a couple hours

I wasn't able to check in with the app either way last time. When I called they said it's working fine.

I saw an article claiming that it means that you will need to answer security questions but I had no such thing

i just got a text from united about checking in. i followed the link and it worked. so it now shows me on the upgrade list but like #5

Spoke to a few different agents. All said they can't make any adjustments to the list. Only can be done at the gate. They all called the helpline but nothing doing.

And the computer says only 42k miles were deducted not 60k. So they are convinced I booked economy and am upgrading. But my account is missing the 60k. Supervisor told me I am not a displaced biz passenger

I think when Dan posted it on DDMS, he wrote that you have to book it as Plan B initially, otherwise you're just waitlisted for business like everyone else.
