"You may redeem miles for travel in United Global FirstSM, United First®, United Business® or United BusinessFirst® , even if the space is not available. In these cases, United Economy in the same award type must be confirmed, and the front cabin will be waitlisted. For example, a Saver United First award must be confirmed in Saver United Economy to be eligible for waitlisting. If the courtesy waitlist does not clear, it will expire 24 hours before itinerary departure, and you will automatically be added to the airport upgrade standby list upon check-in. In these cases, you will be confirmed on a space-available basis by a United airport representative at the gate once the flight has closed for check-in. For United BusinessFirst and United Business travel awards, the difference in miles will be refunded when the United BusinessFirst or United Business class segment of the trip could not be confirmed. Waitlist requests may only be made over the phone with your local United Reservations office"

Called the 1K desk and spoke to rep who is there 21 years and didn't know a freaking clue about this process went back and fourth until she transferred to supervisor who
it didn't look like she knew anything about it either fast forward she deducted 75k miles for EWR-TLV for tomorrow which should've been 78k but it still shows XN without the the IN Class requested
anything to worry about ?
The fare rules are CSM which is for a business class award

I'm having the same issue as Menachem. I booked 2 tickets and it shows as XN but no "IN Class requested". When I look at my itinerary online, it looks like there are 2 bookings and the second says "waitlisted". Does this seem correct or is there something I can/should change? they did debit my account the 75k miles x 2.

Is it possible to request plan B on only 1 leg of a round trip? Or, do you need to book each leg separately to make that work?

You can book both together on the phone and request the waitlist on one way only.

If the Saver Coach is priced at 55K miles for one leg, (instead of the base 42.5K) how many additional miles would need to be debited to book a plan B business saver? Would it be only an additional 20K?

Also, if you purchase premium economy and then are upgraded can you get that refunded?

As i understand your looking at the tlv route so if there is no saver at 42.5k you can't do plan B

I’m looking at a TLV-EWR which does not come up as savor awards but has a fee of 68k + $44.11. But when I look at the available fare classes there’s availability in classes that have an “N”. Does this only work in X-XN or in other award categories as well?

Only X/XN.

Thank you. If its XN0 and X0 does it ever happen that they add availability in those classes?

I tried doing this one a TLV - EWR leg which was priced at 42.5, but the supervisor said that due to the new dynamic pricing, this flight was not eligible for the waitlist procedure.

In general, she said that they first book the ticket and then debit the additional miles. I thought it had to be done from the outset. Is this rep just totally off base? Is it possible to add on plan b once the economy saver amount has already been debited?

Thanks! But now is it possible to add on plan b once the economy saver amount has already been debited? Or do I need to refund and then re-book with a competent rep?

You can do now, but it's a lot harder.
