Starwood gold status through Amex platinum

My wife has a Amex platinum under her name (it is an additional card,she is not main cardholder)...she also has an Amex spg card (where I am the main cardholder). I was wondering whether her Amex platinum could get me gold status for spg (as she has an SPG amex card under my account with my SPG number)

yes. worked for me through my husbands platinum. (we have seperate spg cards and they applied the gold status to both our accounts)

I did a live chat with SPG online and they said to call Amex, who will then call SPG with all 3 on the line.

Officially it's only for Platinum cardholders, but as mentioned above becoming SPG gold might be just a simple phone call away.

Nothing major, you MIGHT get an upgrade, and you can choose between 3 benefits at time of check in.
IIRC, it's either bonus SPG points, free internet or a drink, GIYF
