How did you get United to search flights by segment? I've been speaking to them for months, did they have the exact same availability as ANA? Did they search by stopover city or by destination?

OK the name of the place to checkout near AMS is Zaanse Schans. Its a 20 min train ride from the main station in the city to Zaandam, then you will see the place on the right side and in the direction the train is going. You will go downto teh street walk in the direction the train was going (if I remember correctly) then under the tracks and follow the crowd. trains run every 20 mins

once there there are 4 windmills where you can pay to go in or simply stick your head inside for $0, 1 for paint, 1- vegeatbles,1-oil and 1 mustard. theres also places that have demos how Cheese is made, clogs, and a couple of other items. sort of a  Museum Village

most places will tell you to checkout Marken & Volendam we did what a WASTE of $$ and time

United did not have the exact same availability as ANA (perhaps Starnet blocking was in effect the or the agents were too lazy to look more closely)

I initially called United with flights that I had seen available online when I was looking on my Continental account. After I gave her flight numbers, the agent was able to book the open-jaw ticket of JFK-FRA-AMS(on LH) and  CDG-YYZ-LGA (on AC). She said I couldn't fly from AMS to CDG and use CDG as a free stop-over because "Star Alliance does not operate non-stop flights between those 2 airports."

I let her put the Trans-Atlantic tickets on hold and hung up the phone, to go to work with the ANA tool myself. I was easily able to find plenty of availability there searching two point-to-point awards of AMS-ZRH and ZRH-CDG. I called United back and gave them my desired flight numbers. Although, they did not have all the flights that ANA had available, they had most of them and a few calls later, I was ready to purchase my finished product.

In the process, the dumbest comment made by a United agent when I was trying to add the stop-over in Paris: "You cant have a stop-over on an open-jaw ticket." Of course, I explained, once she booked the stop-over in Paris it would no longer be an open-jaw. ;)

In Zurich, are there any interesting kosher Swiss Chocolates or foods to try/buy that arent readily available in the US?

Also, what are good dining options for Breakfast or dinner near the Park Hyatt in Zurich (or elsewhere) The Park Hyatt recommended Fein & Schein.

Fein & Schein is terrible

For breakfast, there is a place called books and bagels, very nice and tasty. But they only open at 10 am. Dinner your best bet is Baranes grill for a sit down place with waiter service and fine by fine for a take out place, that has some tables. Both places are nothing amazing. Fine by fine is a short 5 min tram ride from the hyatt with the 13 tram. Its the same station you will need to take for books and bagels

Swiss food, buy some thomy mayo and if you want bratwurst. Bratwurst is a veal hot dog, in america they are only from beef. I just served one to Dan tonight in my house, so you can ask him, what he things about them

The sausages in switzerland are very good. I believe the minimum consistency of meat by law, has a lot to do with it.

I hope Dan tasted laugenbrot, its ones something else.

To mr(s) eliteflyers, if Antwerp is on the program, let me know, and I will see what can be arranged.

Ive read in numerous places that Zurich is dead quiet on Sundays. Well be arriving there on Sunday 11am and leaving on Monday at 4:30pm.
With that in mind what do you suggest for Sunday? Trip to Lucerne, walk along the quay etc.
Traveling by train between CDG and AMS it is not a luxury have all you stuff under constant surveillance...
Do you recomend that as a day trip from AMS? wed think of maybe doing that next wednesday or thursday if times an pricing make sense. Is Antwerp a must-see destination ?(in addition to being the hub for Superflyer:-))

We went to papagaia, it was superb ! :-P

I'd suggest 2/3 day antwerp, and a day AMS, and 2 days CDG.
Some guys, if very organized do CDG in 1 day, but that's provided that there is no INF EliteFlyer.

Meaning, if you are an elitewalker too, and you'd see cdg in 1 day, you would go for 1 day in brughes, and, could go in the morning to ghent followed by an afternoon Antwerp, and finally in the eve to ams.

Go to "Sal Meijer" a meaty place, and ask for a sandwich with pekelvlees (read: paykel flays).

Its 4:30am here, so don't ask me what it is, just trust me.

Is that like what we call corned beef in America?

literally translated as "marinated meat", its a kind of pastrami made of (real) meat, I dont see that its so salty in tasty, but everyone says its tops.
