There seems to be no availability the two nights (Friday and Sat) that I'm looking at.  Does anyone with more experience know that the chances are that something opens up?

There are no "chances."

Availability is dynamic. It may open, it may not. The only thing you can do is keep checking and possibly try to get them to open up a room (though I think that's an uphill battle, as I mentioned.)

I got Hyatt CS (main toll free number) to let me apply a (cat 1-4) cert on a night that didn't have standard rooms available (at least not for 1 night), this was for NYC 48Lex.

If you are platinum and apply for the Chase Hyatt card you receive two free suite upgrades. Can those be used on nights redeemed with points?

I saw this fine print on the Hyatt website regarding free nights : "Minimum 3-night award stay required at Hyatt, Park Hyatt, Andaz, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency and Hyatt Resorts. "

 Is this just when redeeming rooms with points, or also using the Gold Passport® Suite Upgrade Free Night Awards attained through the Hyatt CC?  If the latter, it would seem like they require you to paid for a third night when using the 2 free suite nights...
