headphones
« on: August 13, 2012, 08:36:45 PM »
Hi I hope  I'm posting in the right place.  I am looking for a good ( $200 range) pair of head phones. I tried to do some research but I am getting a bit confused by all the different types eg... Dynamic, Open air, Closed . I would like to know if anybody has some knowledge about them or any experience in buying something in that price range.   It does not have to be noise cancelling and would like them to be over the ear (good sound quality is a must as in over style or other features ) .     Any response is appreciated.  Thank You.

I like these. http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-V6-Monitor-Series-Headphones/dp/B00001WRSJ/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1344905194&sr=8-8&keywords=sony+headphones

Though I have a feeling this isn't exactly what you're looking for.

If you are willing to go to $300 then the Bose quiet comfort 15's are definitely the way to go. Great sound quality

Thanks, though I heard/read that their best strength is in their noise Canceling and they lack a bit in their sounds quality compared to sennhieser, akg, beyerdynamics.  Though if noise canceling is a must for you, they are considered to be one of the best balanced between the noise canceling and sound quality

For the budget-conscious, I will swear by these:

http://www.amazon.com/Shure-SE215-K-Sound-Monitor-Black/dp/B004PNZFZ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344780410&sr=8-1&keywords=shure+se215

After breaking my first pair(stepped on them and the earpiece snapped in a freak accident), I spent about 2 months doing research before coming right back to these. There is no active noise-cancelling technology, but I swear that even without any music playing, the ability of these earbuds to block out sound is downright scary. I HAVE to take them out when someone is talking to me, even if theyre standing right next to me. Add to that how comfortable they are(I can wear them for hours on end) and the sub-$100 price tag, and I'm fairly certain that these are the best noise-isolating headphones(earbuds) that $100 can buy.

If you are looking for over-the-ear phones, my vote goes to these:

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD448-Closed-Circumaural-Headphone/dp/B002DGTGO0/ref=sr_1_13?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1344780628&sr=1-13&keywords=sennheiser+hd

They don't compare to the Bose QC15s or Beats as far as noise-cancelling technology, but they are just as(if not more) comfortable, produce amazing sound quality, and do as good of a job at noise-cancelling as $100 will buy.

I got the headphones Audio-Technica ATH-M50. I'll try to put up a review as soon as I use them a bit more. But a note of warning: you might have to start ripping your Media at a higher bit rate, you will hear EVERYTHING.

Yes I used them. They are very good. very neutral (flat?) As in they would be good for a lot of different genres(nothing is over emphasized), though as I said you will hear the difference between a good quality recording/rip and a bad one.
I was also looking into the Ultrasone HIFI 780 because I heard they have better mids/highs which is generally the kind of. music I listen to. And they look a lot cooler. They are about the same price but I got an awesome deal on the ATH-M50.
One con (if you would want to call it one) is that the cable is very very long (I got The straight one ATH   -M50s) The regular ones have a coiled cable.
They also say that you have to "break them in" (after you listen for a while they sound better). So I will try to post more as I use them :)

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Yup. Let them play for 50 hours then they should be good. How cheap did you get them?
