Any way to book Virgin Australia one-way award?
« on: August 14, 2012, 02:51:30 PM »
Delta requires Roundtrip.
Virgin Atlantic looks like they require round trip for partner awards.

Anyway to get it as a one-way?

SQ would be the way to go.
Any idea how much MEL-LAX would be? And would they add a UA segment to NY for the same rate?

Wow. 120K one-way more than a RT on US
Delta would give for 150K a RT

Any cheaper way?

Yeah, assuming you can find low availability. Good luck with that :P

Delta has it available for these dates. The problem is that UA has it as well for one-way, and Using Delta would cost $950 in YQ.

Aren't DL partner awards always the low tier?

Using Delta would cost $950 in YQ.

$950 for one-way? :o Even for R/T that sounds excessive...

But hows does the fact that UA has it for one-way help with your need of using VA miles?

That's right.
VA for the RT wouldn't make sense: 1. outbound from USA has massive YQ. 2. delta NYC-LAX is never available on the lowest level (at least not in business), Vs. UA where you can get the whole way NYC-MEL.

Delta, yes when it's low miles.

Good luck finding low miles on SYD-LAX route.

Ok thanks,
This is a shot in the dark, but could I book a one way virgin australia flight using Virgin Atlantic? I know it probably is not possible just thougt I'd ask.
Also can I use Amex MR from America to transfer to virgin australia ? I know you can make such a transfer from an Aussie Amex account....?

Yes one-way doable with Virgin Atlantic, though the partner bookings is a bit of a pain.

US MR does not go to Virgin Australia Velocity.

So, I could use 47k UR or MR and transfer to Virgin ATLANTIC and then book a one way virgin AUSTRALIA flight from MEL to LAX ?

I see it pretty clearly here: http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/frequentflyer/fcpartners/airlines/virginaustralia.jsp

I just want to make sure I am reading right  :)

Thanks
