Amex sent me two AUs

Searched for it but didn't find anything so I'll start a new thread. I recently added my wife to my SPG Amex as an AU and Amex sent me two SPG cards with her name on it. The question now is will Amex let me activate both so as to have more Amex cards to use for Twitter/Facebook promotions? Or, should I call Amex to ask if I can keep and use both cards (perhaps this is the path of least resistance)? What do you guys think?

If they are the same number, it will count as one for the promos.

I'd say go for it; I actually have three under my wifes name and enjoy great dividends

Go for it as in just activate it behind Amex's back or call them? If I go behind their backs will they catch on and cancel it, I don't want to look silly when I'm in a store and my (wife's) card is denied!

I also don't want to register both cards for a promotion, use both, and discover I'm only going to get one statement credit. This, I suppose,  is the greater risk! How did you give your wife three AUs with one SS number?

Just activate the cards online and move on.

Check your account profile online, if it lists two separate cards you should be good
