Ok, First of all you have mcafee running, and avg secure search, and microsoft security essentials. Def uninstall mcafee.
Next Do you use lenovo veriface to login to windows? If you do you can disable from startup. I would leave the intel and not disable it.

I just uncheck everything in MSconfig besides my mouse.
I have done this on at least 20-30 computers over the past couple years. Never had a problem and some drivers/startups will come back automatically. Also if something did not work it is very easy to just go back and check it to run.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/ is a database of every single thing that can possibly show up in your MSCONFIG startup list. It will tell you whether or not its necessary, degree of importance, possibility of a trojan, how to turn off pesky ones that keep coming up, etc. Its a great resource that I've used a few times.

Not everything is necessary but some drivers help the computer startup properly etc, others will have issues later if they are disabled. Most startups can be disable but be careful. You also want your anti-virus enable, otherwise whatsthe point of having one, some drivers control the audio or wifi as well.

I have the HP ProBook 4510s running Windows Vista Basic and I've been experiencing a lot of lag especially while trying watch a video (audio not synchronized with video & very choppy). I have followed your advice and have ran malware bytes in safe mode, I've ran Defrager, CCleaner and what not. I've even ran every diagnostic test in the start-up menu. Everything seems to come back ok yet my pc is obviously having issues. I would be open to wipe it and start from scratch but I would like to first know if there's any way to transfer Pinnacle from my pc onto a dvd as I lost the installation cds. Oh, and also the battery wont charge.  Any help would be appreciated.  TIA

not really. They have some programs that can do it but it doesn't really work perfectly. I would recommend you install windows 7 - not windows vista. Also run hard drive diagnostics - HP has an option in the bios to run it.

There are endless amount of reasons for the issue you're having. Most of the time when the audio and video aren't in sync (obviously assuming you have the correct player/codex for these files) the problem is speed related. First culprit is always virus or Hard drive. If you do a fresh install and had the same issues, we can assume its hardware related and not software. Sometimes buying a can of compressed air and getting rid of all the dust inside can help - heat will cause a lag in the speed.
What are the soecs on the laptop btw. What processor? how much ram etc?

When checking bleeping computer about "google update" on startup, they give this http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/GoogleUpdate.exe-24397.html advice, does it mean that chrome won't update itself if i disable it from startup? If yes, then why do they recommend disabling it?  :-\

because you don't need an update program starting up when you start windows. If it has an update it will do it when you start the program itself. The same applies for other updates as well - you don't need them running when you start windows they will update when you launch the program itself.
