Whats a Desktop Deal:

There are many factors you need to take into account in order to make something a deal. Manufacturer, Product line, Specs and warranty are usually what to look at when figuring that out. You need to consider prices as well, sometimes you get a price so hot that it doesn't matter what company it is.

Generally speaking here are the guidelines for Intel processors:

i3 8th Gen processor - Under $300 is usually a hot deal, Under $350 is decent
i5 8th Gen Processor - Under $400 is a Usually a Hot Deal
i7 8th Gen Processor - Under $600 is a Usually Hot Deal

to be continued....

I bought this computer for $430 after taxes, it's an i5 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014QVM2KO/ref=ox_sc_imb_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=tbpre-20
Is it worth it returning it and getting the one on ddms i7 for $520 after taxes?

ETA: Bear in mind that my i5 is i5-6400 and the one on ddms is i7-4790..

Imo unless you are doing heavy graphics or gaming it's complete overkill
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Just to understand, the general concept:
Could a later generation i5 be faster than a previous generation i7?
Such as this case the i7 is 4th gen and the i5 is 6th.

There are so many variables when it comes to CPU performance, those are just 2 of many variables affecting performance.  Just to explain my point I compared 3 processor benchmarks, an i7, a celeron, and a pentium, and they all have practically the same performance http://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2221&cmp[]=860&cmp[]=672 (you need to c/p the entire url)

I'm looking for a solid reliable basic desktop - specifically from Best Buy.
Windows 10, with dvd drive. Wifi not necessary, no peripherals necessary. What do you think about this one?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-slimline-desktop-intel-celeron-4gb-memory-500gb-hard-drive-black-diamond-gray/4362000.p?id=1219736627798&skuId=4362000&productCategoryId=pcmcat143400050013
Is there another one that's better for me?
Should I wait for Friday?
Thanks!

Get an i3
The cheapest Win 10 i3 is $400. That's $150 more than the other one. Is it worth so much if I'm looking for a basic computer? It's for the family - no internet.

On a Netbook, the Pentium would outperform the Atom. ( Although I haven't seen a Pentium on a netbook recently)
Don't forget AMD did the same thing to it's Athlon brand, it used to be for high end systems, however the current Athlon II is for budget system.

Based on Avromie7's advice, I'm looking for an i3 model.

Thanks.

ETA: It will probably be $75 cheaper on Friday.

I think the only pro is that it's a little bit more portable
