Whats a Desktop Deal:

There are many factors you need to take into account in order to make something a deal. Manufacturer, Product line, Specs and warranty are usually what to look at when figuring that out. You need to consider prices as well, sometimes you get a price so hot that it doesn't matter what company it is.

Generally speaking here are the guidelines for Intel processors:

i3 8th Gen processor - Under $300 is usually a hot deal, Under $350 is decent
i5 8th Gen Processor - Under $400 is a Usually a Hot Deal
i7 8th Gen Processor - Under $600 is a Usually Hot Deal

to be continued....

love lenovo, they last, and are well built (business and home desktop line, and thinkpads). Never dealt with CS. have had mixed experiences with Dell, (indian CS) and overall 9/10 with HP.
but overall, among the major brands, personal preference is just that, as pointed out by @avromie7
Thanks!

I'm looking for a solid computer and found an HP ENVY i7 SSD see below

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-envy-desktop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-2tb-hard-drive-brushed-aluminum/4370600.p?skuId=4370600

Was wondering is the Dell OptiPlex Desktop Computers collection much better then this? Any why?

I'm wondering how good of a deal this is:
http://www.costco.com/Lenovo-Ideacentre-710-Desktop---Intel-Core-i7---2GB-Graphics.product.100291585.html

Specs:

Intel® Core™ i7-6700 Processor 3.4GHz
32GB DDR4 RAM
1TB SATA Hard Drive + 256GB Solid State Drive
2GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960 Graphics
802.11 Wireless-AC + Bluetooth® 4.0
10/100/1000M Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45 Connector)

$999.99 + tax @ Costco.

Uses:
- Mostly for working on browser-based document editing, WordPress publishing, generally working with 10+ tabs open and using some rather resource-hogging web applications
- Some light gaming, older games like CounterStrike: Source
- Some light photo/video editing (not much)
- Running dual 25" IPS monitors
- Heavy use, 8+ hours every day

Thoughts:
- It seems like building a rig like this would not be much cheaper, based on some builds I've done on PCPartPicker
- I value Costco's customer service/return policy
- It's on sale $150 off ($999+ tax)
- This might be overkill for what I need, but I want it to be somewhat future proof and QUICK as I work on my computer constantly.

Questions:
- Is this a good value?
- Is this overkill?
- Any experience with this particular line of Lenovo's, or Lenovo in general? Can't find many reviews on this model (710), but reviews on lower-end Lenovo models are pretty good.
- Will the included graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 2GB) be sufficient for light gaming at good specs?
- Any other similar models you'd recommend?

Thanks!

PS, I know that the HP is i7 and 2 TB but some are still telling me that the Dell is a better and stronger machine...

To add to the above,  unboxed a Dell xps 8910, top of the line ( i7,  16 gb)  tonight. Got stuck on the install,  reset from the partition and got stuck on that. Installing from a boot disk now.  A 15 minute job took 6 hours and counting,  and I blame Dell.

Seems like a good deal for what I need (work PC, graphics not important). Thoughts? Wait for Black Friday?

You don't need more than 8gb ram with an i3 or maybe an i5 for a work pc. This is overkill and therefore way more expensive than your budget should be. Your budget should be $300-$500 depending on how good of a deal you find.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Is this good for the price? ($1,119.99)
Looking for something that can handle lots at once - browsing (with lots of tabs), MS Office + Adobe, sometimes video editing...

http://www.costco.com/Dell-XPS-8900-Desktop-Intel-Core-i7-4GB-Graphics-23.8%22-FHD-(1920-x-1080)-Monitor.product.100300500.html

Intel® Core i7-6700 Processor 3.4GHz
32GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM
1TB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 Graphics
23.8" FHD (1920 x 1080) Display

I can't tell how much RAM it can hold altogether. I would most likely add an SSD.

BUMP

Will I do better waiting for BF/CM?
A couple other questions:
Will it work with multiple monitors?
Is it easy/doable to upgrade the video card later, if needed?
