Whats a Desktop Deal:

There are many factors you need to take into account in order to make something a deal. Manufacturer, Product line, Specs and warranty are usually what to look at when figuring that out. You need to consider prices as well, sometimes you get a price so hot that it doesn't matter what company it is.

Generally speaking here are the guidelines for Intel processors:

i3 8th Gen processor - Under $300 is usually a hot deal, Under $350 is decent
i5 8th Gen Processor - Under $400 is a Usually a Hot Deal
i7 8th Gen Processor - Under $600 is a Usually Hot Deal

to be continued....

Of course, add an SSD if capable enough (and it doesn't take that much.)
Seriously doesn't take much. I once walked someone through it on the phone.

I would go with the first one because the CPU is better. The GPU of the 2nd one might be - maybe - a bit better, but I would say the CPU is more important and that the GeForce GTX 1050 is also pretty capable.
Thank you so much for clarifying.

If I would be using it mostly for graphics designing, should I consider the second one, will the first be good enough,  or should I look for better (more expensive) specs entirely?

More expensive will, of course, be better. You would benefit from more RAM (and an SSD, but this you can add yourself.) And even a better CPU. But that's all the question about how much you're willing to spend.

At this price-point, which is more "standard" price-point (if not less), from those two I'd still go with the first.

A 240 GB ssd and another 8 GB ram should not cost me more than $40 each, which would give this computer a boost,  correct?

Any thoughts on this?
https://www.microcenter.com/product/607035/g157-gaming-desktop-pc#
PowerSpec G157 Gaming Desktop PC
Intel Core i5-9400F Processor 2.9GHz; NVIDIA GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5; 8GB DDR4-2666 RAM; 250GB SSD
$570

Anyone here has any experience with PowerSpec?

Should I take this rather than the HP above?

Thanks

I think it is Micro Center's own brand, so it should probably not be bad, but still not a popular known brand.

Have you considered this one? It is $629 after 10% coupon. I think it is a great thing (the only downside is that it is AMD, but a pretty good CPU) for the price!

Hard to say.

The HP is better in the sense that it has an Intel processor (although about the same powerful) and that the look is more business'ish, but the Dell is way cheaper and also has a better Graphics card.

Question?
Intel vs AMD!

For some reason I tend to believe that Intel is stronger and will last longer. Regardless of the specs on paper.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

Stronger and last longer? I would not just make up statistical things out of fealing... AMD is a great company as well and they are only getting better.

Yeah, I know that Intel is the leader and if it would be the same league specs I'd choose the Intel. But with a - on paper and in benchmarks - better processor, double RAM, and a better GPU I cannot see a reason to buy the Intel. And that is even before the great Costco and Costco Warranty factor.

For these specs and sub $500 you will have to wait for a great deal. Unless you are willing to go refurbished.

A very great deal or rather a no-deal... Almost never such deals (don't forget that an i5 with 16 GB RAM is not the typical combination, and an i7 with 16 GB RAM for sub $500 is sweet dreams...)
