Whats a Desktop Deal:

There are many factors you need to take into account in order to make something a deal. Manufacturer, Product line, Specs and warranty are usually what to look at when figuring that out. You need to consider prices as well, sometimes you get a price so hot that it doesn't matter what company it is.

Generally speaking here are the guidelines for Intel processors:

i3 8th Gen processor - Under $300 is usually a hot deal, Under $350 is decent
i5 8th Gen Processor - Under $400 is a Usually a Hot Deal
i7 8th Gen Processor - Under $600 is a Usually Hot Deal

to be continued....

I was eyeing this one which comes to $629 after STAND4SMALL

If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Plus the 10% back on amex brings it to ~$566 but then there's tax  :-\

Who knows high end desktops here?

I'd love to try out a PC with 128GB ram.

But I don't need more than a 256GB SSD. And don't care much about graphics card, just has to be able to handle 4 32" screens without slowing the PC down.

Most of the high end builds up sell you on the other components I don't think I need.

And I am wary to buy some somewhere like this https://www.pugetsystems.com/nav/spirit/customize.php as opposed to Dell where I get 10% and $400 off.

I've had poor experience with HP before, but are they better now?

Any tips is much appreciated.

These seem to be Dell's 4 top of the line:

Check out dell precision towers, have someone with that and 128gb, very happy.

However have another with HP z8 G4, and can't stop raving about them.

Just saying both can be very expensive and have a million options. Not to mention you can go to 2tb ram with windows 10 pro.

So would you recommend the HP over a Dell tower?

Both around $4k with 512GB SSD and 128GB RAM, Dell is i9-9900 HP is Xeon Silver 4108 Processor.

Although Dell comes down to like $2,600 after amex discounts.

My experience is Dell then HP. Though hp z series is better than the Dell optiplex line on average.
Both processors should be enough for you, though they are very different.

@sysg1 THANKS SO MUCH!

Got this:

From Dell.com

And it's exactly what I was looking for, it's amazing!

(Plus I got 50% off, at $2k, seemed like a no brainer for a machine with these specs)

If you say so, I've seen a big improvement in speed of loading in my day to day usage.

Hopefully lasts for 5 years, we shall see though.
