Whats a Desktop Deal:

There are many factors you need to take into account in order to make something a deal. Manufacturer, Product line, Specs and warranty are usually what to look at when figuring that out. You need to consider prices as well, sometimes you get a price so hot that it doesn't matter what company it is.

Generally speaking here are the guidelines for Intel processors:

i3 8th Gen processor - Under $300 is usually a hot deal, Under $350 is decent
i5 8th Gen Processor - Under $400 is a Usually a Hot Deal
i7 8th Gen Processor - Under $600 is a Usually Hot Deal

to be continued....

So how did you get the 50% off?
You could get that amount or close to it by speaking to a rep.
A workmate got 46% off for a $2500 computer.

If you say so, I've seen a big improvement in speed of loading in my day to day usage.
Of course you do, you have way more capability on that machine then you'll probably ever use right now
You'd have to put in actual specific effort to use 128 GB of ram.

Looking for a desktop with i7 9700k (or better), at least 12mb of ram if easy to add (otherwise 16mb min), preferably a strong brand. No need for SSD, will add that myself. And need ability to hook up at least 3 1200 screens (or 4 1080s) - so will need a decent graphics card. Looking to spend under 700 - do you guys think that's possible in the holiday sales?
I'm seeing below for 1020 but should be able to get a better deal, no?

Always call dell, on average they can drop the price another 10%. I have gotten items down 46% off MSRP when all codes you can find combined only give you 25% off.

Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a desktop in the $400-$500 range?

Minimum specs I want are i3, 4GB RAM, 256 GB SSD. Any of i5, 8GB RAM, and 512 GB SSD would be a plus.

Is this any good?

If you're willing to go up to $549 consider this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R8WJMW6/ref=as_li_ss_tl?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=dbtrer6urvt6u5rey5s-20&linkId=987dfb6f810eaaa745649210cf76829e&language=en_US

----
ETA: I see now the Dell one that @sysg1 posted, it's provably better unless the 512 SSD is important for you.

I still think it's not worth to drop a computer because of not having a SSD. It's a easy thing to put into a computer, and for Samsung 512gb ssd with a proper mounting kit for about $80 it's really worth it.

Thank you for all your responses. I am asking for a relative, these are some good options but it seems that he needs it right away so I guess we need to find something that we can pick up today.

if you have a choice dont get a i3
I usually try to go for at least i5 myself but this is for light use and I think the main reason to go with i5 is to make it last longer so it's probably not worth spending $200 more for i5 in this case, no?

I didn't see any reasonably priced i5s at Best Buy or Staples but I did find this at Micro Center.
Thoughts?
Is their brand any good?
How reliable are external DVD drives (this computer has no DVD drive and he needs a drive)?

Or maybe one of these?

What's wrong with this one?

Also, I wouldn't take an Acer if it was free, after your warranty is up you're dead in the water, they wont look at you unless you pay for the extended warranty or for a one time pass.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.
