get the optiplex. It comes standard with a 3 year warranty. If you go Dell outlet, you could get a good deal.

Thanks, seems like a good deal. If he wanted to spend a little more to make this a better machine what would be the place to add things? His primary concern is it lasting for longer while still maintaining decent specs, so that 4 years from now this isnt a completely outdated comp.

My recommendation would be Dell Optiplex. I have been asked by a couple of guys here for an Optiplex deal - I don't see anything right now. I'll update when I do.
